Thought I'd do a quick 'blog' for the past 6-8 weeks since Fred had his corn and lump removal operation, as I haven't posted much of late.

Firstly, we finished the decorating. Fred is relieved that his favourite chair has been restored to it's rightful position, and he can take his place in the sun again...

Similar colour scheme as before, we just stripped all the lumpy wall paper and skimmed the walls, and then painted. :sweating:

I tried to transfer him to the settee for a picture, but he refused to cooperate. :p No bad thing really, because he shredded the cushions on our last settee. This is is sprung and quite hard, and not nearly as squashy and comfortable. He doesn't like it.... Good news for our settee!

Shortly afterwards I took the boys on a much needed short break in Somerset. Beach walks were enjoyed by all...

Back home again, and out on the moors with Stan. Fred had to be left at home for the first few weeks after his op...

The room looks lovely and Fred in his chair is the finishing touch :)

The Gorgeous Stanley is enjoying some stunning scenery.

Great photos of Fred and Stan, and some stunning scenery too. I really like the last one of the waterfall. :)

Glad to see Fred is doing well after his op.

Your fireplace is so pretty - is it an original feature?

Thanks for all the lovely comments......

I found the cast iron fireplace at a reclamation yard just outside Coventry. I think it would have had something similar originally, but a lot of the original features of the house were taken out by the previous occupant, and replaced with most 70's furnishings, including a gas fire, horrible 70's horizontal bannister rails (I'd love some spindles, although the staircase used to be walled both sides), fully glazed, frosted doors, flat teak effect doors upstairs, and an apricot bathroom suite and mottled brown tiles, to name but a few horrors  This is the only room where we've put back the fireplace. We'd like to have done the same with the other rooms, but it would be too costly and we're not really into restoration and DIY. Much rather be out on the hill enjoying ourselves :p One day we'll get around to doing the bathroom. We've replaced the kitchen fittings a few years ago and put in a wooden cottage back door recently, but that's going to be our lot for the time being. Oops, more information that you asked for I know..... :)

For Enid...Stan asks if this expression looks familiar too..... ;)
