Today Aslan Show Me The Money - daughter of Gilnockie Ace of Spades (Imp UK) and BIS Ch Aslan Chanson D'Amour gained her TD title!!!!

I am desperately trying to find out if she is the first whippet in Qld to gain this title and if she is the second in Australia. I know of Ch Bonnymead Gipsy Slippers TD in Victoria but do not know of any others. Have spoken to Hilda Abfalter in WA who owned the multi titled Neilhurst Hot n Smokey - she knows of no tracking whippets in WA. Have also spoken to Noelene Watson in Tassie - she does not know of any there either.

I HAVE emailed all the governing bodies of the states - but I am trying to meet a deadline with this info for an ad before Monday. If I can get this info in it will be great.

Do you know of any other Whippet in Australia current or past that has his/her TD title?

Hi Lana, the most titled whippet ever in Canada is one called Clearhounds Kiera who is a daughter of our Ch. Nevedith Local Lancer. At the time she became the most titled whippet last fall I heard from an Australian who seems to know what dogs have done what in Australia in terms of obedience, tracking etc. My last email to him was at hi61900@bigpond.net.au and his name is John Langton-Bunker. You might write him and see if he has some info of use to you.

By the way, we have an Australian visitor with us since last night. Neil Weeks who owned Nevedith Kfa Kraka is here for a weekend visit! Thank heavens the awful rains we have had for weeks have cleared and we can show him our city (and dogs) without drowning!

None that I'm aware of Lana- but that doesn't mean much. You could try Aunty- she's better than the internet. :) Congrats on the great title!

How great is that , well done Lana

Sorry, I am not much help either.

 But big congratulations !!!!

Good to show the world that Whippets are not just beautiful. :)

Koudos to both owner and trainer Graeme aka Schmick and of course the elated breeder Lana of Aslan.

Your deadline as far as hearing from canine bodies will be interrupted by the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

The other trainer back in the early 90's in Victoria was Ms Wendy Nicolson, she had Calahorra and Roachill whippets, not sure if Wendy did tracking just have a niggling thought that maybe there was a title there, I have been through heaps of old Whippet Vic Diaries but it only found am advert showing Wendy offering positive training methods.

The best memory to jog would be the Secretary of the Whippet Association of Victoria Inc.

I know Wendy use to do obedience Noelene, but can't remember if she tracked. I use to have some old notes of Wendy's but suspect they are long gone, as we have moved. I will have a hunt around in the shed when I get a chance.

Huge Congratulations to Graeme and Nockie, and to you as well Lana. Brilliant effort

What a wonderful achievement - huge well done to proud breeder Lana and Graeme and the oh so clever Nockie! :D

I have heard back from the NT. As far as that lady knows, none there.

Have emailed Rae Mitchelson and she is on the case, trying to find out if Gipsy Slippers was the first TD Whippet.

have heard from Dogs NSW that there was a Calahorra whippet TD titled in the late 80's - it was born in 1982. I'm surprised that Wendye herself didn't remember that one! Could this have belonged to Wendy Nicolson? Have emailed Dogs NSW back to ask the question.

This is really interesting and fun finding all this out.

Any other tidbits of info anyone has re tracking will be most welcomed as I have been asked to write an article - so any pics/info you find in old mags will be most helpful.

Am asking Sue Delaney for contact with Gipsy Whippet's owner and permission to reprint part/s of her story - amazing as it is.

Cheers,

Hi Lana

Wendy had a few whippets around 1990. She owned Calahorra Sunshine, from memory it could have been a fawn its a long time ago, I hope this helps you.

Regards

Bill

He was a fawn dog - got info back from Dogs NSW and also some from Tesa.

Born 1988 though, not 1982 as I wrote previously and yes owned by Wendy Nicolson.

He is the only one on the Australian database - the lady from Dogs NSW is contacting Victoria to find out about Gipsy Slippers. There seems to be no record of her TD on the database. It would be a sad thing if her owner never actually officially applied for the title...... :(

Hi Lana

Another whippet Wendy had around the same time as Calahorra Sunshine was Roachill Joe Blow, I also think she had another that had lost a leg some how, its a long time ago.

I am going to add Calahorra Sunshine TD to the whippet archives. I am confident that all the details I have on this dog are correct. Anyone else having records on him, may want to double check my listing of him.

I can remember Wendy clicker training back in the mid 1990's, long before it became common practice. In those day's you couldn't even get clickers, and she use to use the little metal animal shape clickers that children have as party favours. She was way ahead of her time.
