So sorry to read about Scout - she was beautiful and obviously adored.

Am so sorry that Scout is no longer with you but it couldn't have been a more perfect life for any dog. An adored family member, one family only, good health and longevity - a life well lived, how lovely.

What lovely words you have written about your precious little girl Scout.

RIP Scout

Jenny

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Here's a lovely poem that could just as easily relate to your girl.

The Spirit of A Greyhound (or Whippet)

I was standing on a hillside in a field of blowing wheat

And the spirit of a Greyhound was lying at my feet.

She looked at me with kind dark eyes an ancient wisdom shining through

And in the essence of her being I saw love there too.

Her mind did lock upon my heart as I stood there on that day

And she told me of this story about a place so far away.

I stood upon that hillside in a field of blowing wheat

And in a twinkling of a second her spirit left my feet.

Her tale did put my heart at ease my fears did fade away

About what lay ahead of me on another distant day.

“I live among God’s creatures now in the heavens of your mind

So do not grieve for me, my friend, I am with my own kind.

My collar is a rainbow’s hue my leash a shooting star

My boundaries are the Milky Way where I sparkle from afar.

There are no pens or kennels here for I am not confined

But free to roam God’s heavens among my Greyhound kind.

I nap the day on a snowy cloud, gentle breezes rocking me

And dream the dreams of earthlings and how it used to be.

The trees are full of liver treats, tennis balls abound

And bones line the walkways just waiting to be found.

There is even a race track all set up, the grass is lush and green

And greyhounds joyfully run round remembering where they’ve been

For we’re all winners in this place, we have no faults, you see

And God passes out those trophies to each one -, even me.

I drink from waters laced with gold my world a beauty to behold

And wise old dogs do form my pride to amble along at my side.

At night I sleep in an angel’s arms, her wings protecting me

And moonbeams dance about us as stardust falls on thee.

So when your life on earth is spent and you stand at Heaven’s gate

Have no fear of loneliness for here, you know I wait.

I am so sorry to hear your sad news Alison :( Scout was such a little fighter right to the end. What a lovely tribute you have given her. You gave her a happy, loving home and the best of everything. Hopefully in time you will be able to look back and think of all the happy memories you shared with her and it will bring a smile upon your face :huggles: Hugs to you and your family at this very sad time.

RIP Gorgeous little Scout and run free :huggles:

Your little Scout looks very much like my Woody (Woody's mum being Nimrodel Nutmeg)

She was a very lucky little lass to have lived her life with you. Though if she's anything like my Woody she will have thought that her good fortune was all down to how well she trained you AND of course sometimes the human just doesn't get it right and needs some prompting.

Run free little Scout. A candle has been lit here to light her way to the bridge.

So sorry to hear you have lost her. 14 is a good age, and I'm sure she had the very best life with you. I have a tiny whippet too, only 15lbs. They may be small, but have big hearts, and they do leave such a hole when they are gone. Little whippet, but big impact.

RIP Little Scout x

Very moving words for a very beautiful little whippet.

RIP pretty girl x

Hi , Nimrodel Nutmeg was the sister of my little Scout . Lovely to hear Scout has some relatives out there who are like her .
