Is it now a KC rule to call in the 2nd in the class to the CC winner at Ch shows? Or is it just courtesy? I thought that the rule changed to say they had to be called in but I can't find it in the red book.

It won't be in the rule book. If the first wins the CC, the second can be called in to challenge for the Res CC as it it the only dog apart from the other class winners beaten by the CC winner. It does not automatically get the Res CC.

I know that but was wondering if it was a KC rule that the judge HAD to call in the second placed dog to challenge the other class winners for the RCC.

No it isn't a rule.

It is the judges choice, they may or may not call in the 2nd place to the CC winner.

Alot of exhibitors think it is their right, when infact it is upto the judge.

Frankie's had a RCC from being called in as 2nd but i can remember him coming 2nd to the CC winner on at least 2 occasions and the judge not calling him in to challenge for the RCC - most recently at the Hound Show in August, although as it turned out Dermot got the RCC which was more pleasing!!

So therefore, its not a rule.

Thank you for your replies. :D I thought the rules about the RCC changed when the KC made the rule about handing back the CC & RCC straight away after they were awarded :b .
