Coursing In The Cotswolds

We have had a brilliant day today lure coursing in the Cotswolds courtesy of Gay Robertson and her many helpers, most particularly Becka and Teena on the lure, both of whom worked tirelessly all day. Many many thanks to all involved both on the field and behind the scenes :) The aim of the day was to give some of the show bred whippets a chance to try their hand at lure coursing for the first time in the company of some more experienced dogs ... and some of those first timers proved to be very adept at it indeed :thumbsup:

The winners of the 3 stakes were as follows (hope I've got this right)

Cotswolds

Winner - Washbanks Wellington

Runner Up - Blackvelvet Knight (my Tyg :wub: )

Borrego

Winner - Mallyfield Silver Knight (my Finn :wub: :wub:)

Runner Up - Yialousa Fiorello of Citycroft

Sezincote Stayers

Winner - Harerunner Hillsprinter

Runner Up - Celticmoon Fire Opal at Lawleymoon

It was a fab day, Rocco loved every second.

Thank you for posting that photo of him, I'm very proud of him.
 
If you do have any nice photos of Rocco I'd love to see them as unfortunately none of my mums were any good!!

Thought that was Rocco ... didn't want to caption it though in case I was wrong :b He did so very well today, you'd have thought he'd been chasing lures for ever :)

Should have said thank you to you too as Secretary ... and to Alex for his efforts on the quad bike ... I have a picture of him on it if you want a copy :)
 
I'm just so pleased everyone; dogs and people had such fun.

I think Rocco would love to do it again, as would I.

LOL!! Would love an amusing quad photo!!

Annie, I'm sorrry I didn't realise it was you or I would have come to say hello. Well done with your boys today they were brilliant, as were Rocco and Anne's Cesc. It was a superb day, beautifully organised and ran like clockwork. I can't thank Gay enough for inviting us to her lovely home, and for Becka, Teena, Alex, the slipper (that poor man with my two) judges and stewards. I promise to practise and hopefuly my boys will be a little bit better the next time.

I was so happy that everyone had a good day - entirely due to the huge efforts of the "helpers". It takes a lot of people working their socks off to put on something like that and everyone helped where they could. Thanks, Annie for the pic of Amber running as a bye dog in a blue collar :- )

I'm so glad that you all had such a great day - it sounds as though Rocco did brilliantly too :))

Hopefully I will be able to come along if you run another event next year. Unfortunantely I was already committed to the Coursing Crew event at Enstone but it was a good day for me too, with my Irie winning the whippet coursing with my Sox being the runner up :thumbsup:

They just love it, don't they!!!! :D
 
Well done all. Looks like you had some nice weather after Saturday's deluges! I wasn't that far away...wish I'd popped by now. :)

Always so envious when I see your lure coursing event photos...I would love to give the dogs a go at this.

Wish there was more round our area.

Thanks for putting the photos on Annie- there's a lovely one of my Mabel at full stretch- I was just amazed that she realised this time that the idea is to chase the lure and not the other dog! 8)

I couldn't take my eyes off your Taran when he was running- might be that because he's black you can see his silhouette better, but he just makes such a lovely dramatic shape in flight!

I don't suppose your husband took any photos of my IG Normie did he? He was so excited to finally get a go after having to watch everyone else run all day! :wub:

Annie Thank you so much for putting the pictures up.

We had such a lovely day and the weather and venue was perfect.

Definatley Cesc's favourite game I was so pleased he was able to run with such experienced dogs as Finn and Bryn, and he sends apologies to Ruby for not waiting and running round without her! he promises that next time he'll wait.

Thanks to everyone especially Gay for making it such a good day.
