@JudyN amazing how such a small thing can freak them out. For Murphy (and Benny before him) its the hay bales left in the fields in summer.. nasty scary things.
People assume dogs dont notice things but I changed the ornaments on the windowsill while George was out. He came home glanced around...
LOL ...Max, our Bovier x St bernard used to do that, he would see us taking a picture of the tree and to make sure he was in shot he would back up into it and then wag, but a huge 60kilo dog wagging a whole Christmas tree is not a safe sight!
Well our tree is up on the firm understanding that if George tries to eat it it goes back into the loft.. So far so good, it seems the baubles dont smell of anything edible so hes leaving them alone!
How do your dogs (and other pets) cope with the decorations?
Well I wouldnt eat anything that had an ingredient list that needed a chemist to de-chiper it. I know of lot of those things are just the long names for vitamins and such but some are downright yukky..
I think I will stick to good old fashioned natural stuff..
Just a note about fruit and veg... Dutch farmers are unhappy about new nitrogen emissions rules which they feel are unfair to farmers. So far their acions have been confined to blocking motorways but with the slogan , No farmers= no food they plan to block food distribution centers before the...
I did say I would keep you updated and Im quite excited.. Tomorrow will be one week since we started using the drops. We have noticed that Murphy is a little less jumpy at night when he hears bangs outside and when we do our last walk he is not treating every person who gets near us as a...
Really sorry to hear this. My very good friend lost her husband on Christmas eve and his cremation was on New years eve it will be 11 years this year and only now has she had the courage to try plan a festive meal. Since he died December has been a month of sadness and nausea for her as the...
Leaving a dog alone all day isnt something Id advise. Of course it happens from time to time but to set out with the plan to leave them 5 days a week 8 hours a day isnt ideal. Maybe look into doggy creche or daycare a dog walker of p sitters in your area.
Cant really add to this except to say people a lot older and wiser than yourself have had puppy blues including myself. Murphy chose me as chew toy of choice and I bled regularly as a result.
It does pass..
Pushing bounderies is also normal think about it how often did you perser your parents...
@JoanneF thundershirt might help but the thing is hes fine indoors not sure how it would work with walking and his harness.
@JudyN walking in daylight is tricky its dark until nearly 9am and then from 4pm it would mean only taking him out in the day and our garden isn't suitable for an...
Things have taken a bit of a bad turn here, Murphy had calmed a lot since George arrived but the dark nights are causing problems. He has a light collar when its dark and we walk with torches that way we can see uneven paving, dog poo and any other debris that might be laying around. But we cant...
No advent calenders for the dogs the treats inside are normally too commercial for them. Normally I do buy one for myself just another little Christmassy thing to brighten the days but I forgot this year.
But OH who has always treated Christmas like the grinch has decided he loves the idea.. He...
I have to say I often hear the same excuse with slightly different wording.. 'Oh but hes a rescue', when the dog is behaving badly (often off lead) as I used to point out all three of mine were rescues but it was no excuse for continued bad behaviour.
George has very bad habits, he came like...
