    What’s your favourite food/ dinner

If someone would make it for me, cause I cant be bothered, a good full proper cooked breakfast. Though even when I'm away I find hotel breakfasts though acceptable do not come up to a proper home cooked one.

    Ronnie is always hungry

I understand that some Labs, and some Flat Coats carry a gene mutation that makes them a lot more food obsessed than the average dog. And of course the average dog would eat more than it should.

Official Rapid Results Dog Behavioural Training

I'm with Lurcherman, I don't intend to waste my time watching their vids. Their initial statement about 'Rapid results' told me enough to know I wont be using them.

JudyN, all I can say is its obvious that Jasper has you well trained, lol.

    Chihuahua family behaviour issues

I agree with Hemlock, once two bitches fall out and start real fighting the only way to stop it is to keep them apart. I know many times females are kept together in perfect harmony but if they take a dislike to each other then they will fight hard. I've never heard of this problem with males...

    Arthritis

Years ago we had a Collie cross that started developing Arthritis, now we were both sceptical about alternative remedies but someone suggested a magnetic collar. Thinking well it wont do any harm we got one, eventually she started moving better and appeared to be in less pain, getting up quicker...

    The Dog Cafe

JudyN, I tend to think they, (Sight Hounds), do tend to learn over time what they can and what they cant catch, adjusting their running accordingly. They do still enjoy the chase just don't put their all into it. My girl found an unexpected benefit to it, a Pidgeon was eating something she went...

    Coronavirus and Supermarkets

Lurcerman, I wear glasses and need to wear them all the time and yes wearing a mask makes them steam up. So what do I do? wear a mask and stumble around as though I am in a thick fog or take my glasses off and stumble around not seeing anything clearly.

    Harness advice please

I use a Bergan harness for my Whippet in the car and I use a Martingale collar with a normal length lead for walking. I like the Martingale as its wide and soft so covers quite a bit of her neck and slips over her head to put on but if she pulled it tightens up so she cant get out of it.

    Adolescence or other?

JoanneF, your comment on avoiding the head reminded me about Folly's funny way. Put simply she loves most people and when we are out she goes close to them looking at them, if they either say something to her or hold their hand out to her she goes up and lets them stroke or pat her. But if they...

I wonder what people think of hot sun and dogs. Now obviously I only take Folly out early and / or late not in the really hot sun, but thinking about the dogs at racing, when its been sunny I have noticed that the white, cream or fawn dogs recover quicker than the dark brindle, blue or black...

    Genealogy

JudyN, I can remember reading somewhere that the invention of the bicycle did more to improve the genetics of country folk than anything else. I come from a long line of Lancashire village folk, mostly from a couple of villages and yes their was quite a bit of close breeding. (I would guess the...

    Breed advice

Another vote for Staffies, same as Finsky the ones I have known have been lovely friendly happy dogs. My son has two and you couldn't wish to meet a more easy going dog than either of them. Another breed to consider is a Whippet, once past the puppy stage they are lazy dogs only needing a short...

    Vaccines and boosters..

Lurcherman, I wonder if you could be on to something. I do not know if Vets adjust how much vaccine they give depending on the size of the dog, but to my simple mind it would make sense.

    Vaccines and boosters..

I started having boosters for Folly but after reading quite a bit decided four years ago, (she was 5 then), to have her Titer tested instead. Since then her levels have shown that she still has immunity at a high level. Yes it is not a money saver for me, but fortunately that's not a worry. I...

    Greyhound and Small Dogs

I wonder how it would react to other Sight hounds, my Whippet is comfortable with any from IG's up to Wolfhounds. Its just like she can easily 'read' them far easier than other dogs.

    Your lockdown drinks

I don't drink often, but will admit to liking a Malt Whisky, never had a bad one but my fav is Oban. Unfortunately I can not get it often, but when I do I enjoy it.

    New / puzzling behaviour.

My only suggestion is its her trying to 'talk' to you. My Whippet often looks at me then makes a soft roo ing noise, again I assume she is 'talking'.

    Dogs and squirrels.

As a Whippet owner then unless I kept her on lead all the time then she will chase Rabbits and Squirrels. most times without success, at nearly ten her tally is two Rabbits, one Squirrel and one Pidgeon. Would I encourage her to do it NO but will I keep her on lead, again NO.

    The Dog Cafe

Today we met a lovely Lurcher, it was a Bearded Collie cross Greyhound. Never seen that cross before but this chap was really nice, a brilliant temperament and a lovely looking dog. As she must have classified it as a Sight hound Folly went towards it and he came towards her, both wagging then...
