Way to go! This won’t last very long. If there are other humans in the household - perhaps share the night duties?
As for leaving alone - I would consider approaching this way: what would you like her to do while she is alone? Best answer IMO - sleep! So, when it’s time to start training for...
We ran into a beautiful Borzoi today on our walk. He was noticeably bigger than Miles in size, and almost as heavy (39 kg vs Miles' 42). Seemed like a good match, Borzoi's humans didn't mind, and we let the boys meet and interact.
Unfortunately, it did not last long - Miles became quite...
As far as stopping/sitting/laying down - use these breaks as fotoshoot opportunities! Take portrait shots, close ups, etc. , get down on the ground so the camera is at the same level (rather than from above down)... or selfies with you and her!
There is no way to lose with this approach. Either...
When selecting a puppy, if yours does this:
There is a good chance that 2 years down the road he will still do the same:
:D:D:D
I admit, I wanted a hugger... Be careful what you wish for!
Happy Holidays!
I don't know how folks manage to sleep without a dog next :)
Had to manage for a few months when in between dogs - and it was hard!
I would also sleep in with the monster. There aren't many things as enjoyable as early morning cuddles with a Bouvier puppy!:D
We celebrated by a 6 hour / 12 mile long hike yesterday, and by a trip to the local beach this morning where the birthday boy had a chance to run and play with a couple of friends. I am certain he will happily sleep through the rest of Sunday.
I would recommend ordering some medical equipment (turned out to be very inexpensive) and playing vet with your puppy, so he gets used to stethoscope, otoscope, etc. at home.
If nothing else - working from home during pandemic gives an opportunity to play with the giant puppy in the back yard while it's still light. He actually likes chasing sticks :-)
Someone asked me - "where were you when your dog was committing robbery?"
A fair point. Guilty as charged, was busy playing fetch with someone else's dog there
A super confident giant pup + distracted owners = a dangerous combination.
71 F (22 C) - not half bad for November, so up into mountains we went again yesterday.
We've been hiking a lot this season. Yesterday was a long hike - almost 7 hrs, up and down the mountain, with a stop at a mountain lake. By the end of it, Miles seemed as full of energy as he was at the...
If there are no places nearby where you are not likely to encounter other dogs - perhaps try walking at different time?
Waking up and getting out before sunrise, for example, could be a pain - but having a great walk without drama may be worthwhile.
It's colder now, and it gets dark early... Not good. So, we took a day off today for what might be the last long hike of the season.
Miles was extraordinary vocal in the car for some reason, to the point of me getting in the back seat to entertain him, just to stop the deafening wining and...
I hear you!
I lost my beloved boy 2 years ago, and I still have tears in my eyes when I look at his pictures or find myself in places we used to enjoy. Even though we have a new puppy now, and time is supposed to be a great healer.
The amount of pain and grief now reflects the love and...
