Miles gets attacked and bitten.. very frustrating

Thanks all! He is fine. Has a visible scar on his left side, but it matches the scar on the other side which he got from some other adventure, probably chasing a deer through bushes. As someone once said “Look at this Ridgeback. Not a mark on him. A sad thing” . Need to live on the edge :D

Miles gets attacked and bitten.. very frustrating

Very frustrated! Now that some beaches are open for off leash dogs, we took Miles out to a beach yesterday hoping for some fun, where he was immediately attacked and bitten by a doodle... Not a pretty scene - the big baby ridgeback tried to get away but the doodle caught him, and he was just...

    Return to the New Forest

A great place to let a dog run free for a while, isn’t it? How big is this New Forest? And it’s all green still, when will leaves start changing colors? Jasper looks good!

My Staffie is scared of my step sons!

I also wonder if there is a way to incentivize the kids to keep the energy level down to Oscar’s tolerance level, or is this really an impossible task?

My Staffie is scared of my step sons!

Hello!! Has it been like this for a long time, or started recently? How do the boys interact with Oscar? What's "very loud" - running around, chasing each other, playing soccer in the hallway, racing electric cars through the house?:) How do you think Oscar perceives "very loud" (him being...

    Miles hiking

The boy will be 2 y.o. at the end of November . No longer the Baby Miles he used to be! :)

    Miles hiking

An our and a half drive. But it's worth it. We spend the day in the mountains, with breaks, lunch, looking for gigantic porcupines up in the trees, etc. Miles is like a prudent tourist, goes to every ledge to look down, often scaring my dearest wife to death. On the way back we usually stop at...

    Miles hiking

Hiking has become somewhat of a hobby lately. Clears the head quite well :) We started with much shorter distances, but now Miles can easily handle 5-6 hr hikes in the mountains.

    Google's disturbing this morning!

According to the vet (and this matches my own observations) - our first boy actually fought our attempts to keep him alive on the day of his passing... it felt like he just wanted to go quietly, on his own, rather than being rushed to the vet, having breathing tube inserted, etc, and of course...

    Down the beach

This is lovely, wish we could join you there. At least one of local beaches here I think lifted dog restrictions yesterday too. We’ll try, but I am a bit apprehensive - Baby Miles will be 2 at the end of November, not sure how it will go between an intact large young male and all the other dogs...

    Back to the city!

Enough is enough! After 5+ months of staying in the fairly protective environment of our suburban gated community, with excursions mostly to remote forests and beaches, we went right to the heart of NYC on this beautiful Sunday morning - Downtown Manhattan, World Financial Center. And guess...

    How much walking?

Lol, sounds like an awesome sighthound puppy :-) My 2 cents - walk more without forcing him (more sniffing around, watching things, etc.) Maybe this will bring 5 min crazy sessions down to 2-3 min? But when zoomies take over - keep yourself out of the way, don't try to catch him, you getting...

    Young Ridgeback in the forest

He chases all kinds of forest creatures! :D His interest in chipmunks is less than it used to be, but squirrels and up in size - yes! Never catches anything, not even once. Deer is the best to chase. In the woods deer have advantage running through the bushes, and he gives up quickly, 5-10 min...
