Indeed - something as high value as this is rarely refused. When Harri as at his sickest the only way I could get him to eat anything at all was to sit on the floor with him and hand feed him pieces of warm boiled chicken. Have you tried hand feeding?
Is he OK in himself? I'm sure dogs get bored with their food eating the same thing. Harri started to get picky around 8/9 months.
We ring the changes constantly here - his diet is based around Butternut Box wet food which comes in 4 different flavours but for lunch 3 or 4 days a week he gets...
My vet also suggested Piriton for Harri when he had some itchy spots. It worked like a dream and broke the itch/scratch cycle very fast. It was certainly an allergic response to something but we're till not sure what and as it was a one off so far I haven't felt compelled to try and find out...
This will primarily be of interest to US members I think - I don't recognise most of the brands.
However since Lidl is mentioned as having an affected product I thought it was worth posting the link https://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/NewsEvents/ucm627485.htm
Dominance theory is well and truly debunked now and he's really only a baby still. if he's 7 weeks you can't have had him very long at all.
Is he really snarling or is it just a play growl he's doing? Biting and mouthing is normal at this age. Pups play rough with their siblings and it helps...
I'm glad she's feeling better. Those photos did look so sore.
I think I'd go for the allergy testing if it was Harri. It might turn out to be something that is easy to avoid. Not only would it be cheaper long term but apoquel is an immune suppressant and dogs need a healthy and effective immune...
Well Welsh terriers fit your size and running requirements. They have great stamina and can go on for miles. They also don't shed and are considered low for allergens with their wiry coats.
Not sure they fit your well behaved and easy to train requirements though! Independent minded is putting...
I wrote a bit about what I'm doing with Harri in this thread
Recall training?
He has actually twice broken off from playing with another dog to come back to me when called. That was huge! And the glimpse of success. Sadly he then picked up a scent and I had to climb under a barbed wire fence...
I'm a bit nervous today. Mum says I'm doing my bronze Kennel Club Good Citizen award this evening....
She says I just have to listen to her and do as I'm told - I'm not very good at that!
Harri is also over friendly - he was also unbearably cute as a pup and got loads of attention ( he still does - he looks like a teddy bear!). He's also 16 months old.
I have yet to find a solution I'm afraid. We are working on controlling his social interactions but it's hard work as no treat...
Harri's toothbrush is a raw chicken wing for lunch. His teeth are glow in the dark white! He doesn't get a lot of biscuity treats that stick to the teeth which also helps.
Harri has it down to a fine art. Nice shop owner asks me if he can have a treat. When I say yes, Harri's bottom hits the floor at high speed and he raises a front paw to the owner. She melts at the cuteness overload and he gets a couple of extra ones!
Ah just remembered the one that really gets to me - Harri will wait til we are a couple of hundred yards past the last poo bin before going. I then have the choice of dragging him back to the bin or carrying the bag for the next 5 miles...
