Are the containers recyclable?
Why do we need so many "hygiene" products for household use? Some may have a place where large numbers of dogs are kept together like rescue shelters but other than the puppy enzyme carpet spray and a bottle of doggy shampoo I haven't felt the need for anything...
Dad's been cutting the hedges and I've been supervising him clearing up the horrible mess he made. I'm sure that rake would have slacked off if I hadn't kept chasing it and barking at it.
All tidy now. I hope Mum appreciates all my hard work:D
My cats have always been neutered - it's the price they have to pay for being allowed their freedom to roam outside. (And yes I know, whether cats should be allowed to roam is a whole other topic!)
That's bizarre!
Abandoned poo bags are a problem around here too. At least an unpicked up poo will vanish in a week or two but the poo bags, even the degradable ones, take months if not years. I feel sorry for one property owner here as a favourite place to leave poo bags seems to be his wall.
Now I'm a Bronze dog I'm in training to be a Silver dog :D. I really enjoy my doggy classes and Mum always has a pocket of really really yummy treats for me too.
Today we had to find the hidden treat. It's one of my favourite games and I'm really good at it. One of the other dog's Mum had...
Have you looked on Facebook for local dog walking groups? There is one around me which is very popular. There are formal event walks but also plenty of “ Anyone free this morning to come walking with me” type posts.
There is absolutely no way I’d risk Harri off lead at dusk or later. He’s another who is hardwired to wildlife and he’d be gone. He gets a 2 to 3 hour walk in the morning and a shorter and on short lead in the afternoon.
I’m glad the muzzle has worked NESS&NACHO. Hopefully now you’ve got to the...
The forestry commission and Woodland trust actively encourage stick and flick around here. As I said I pick up anyway in heavily used areas.
I was planning on carrying the paper ones in a reusable plastic bag. You can get fancy and expensive bags just for this but I think I can improvise. I...
Harri is almost always on a longline in public. Should an uneutered bitch come near him then I have enough control to keep him away. An unneutered bitch in season should not be off lead so her owner should also have control.
Sadly biodegradable doesn’t work in landfill. The process doesn’t work in the absence of oxygen. All those expensive green bags are not as green as they pretend to be.
I stick and flick where possible but have to use the bags on some of our walks as they are heavily used by lots of people...
I agree here with Judy. I do fully understand why the shelters neuter so early - essentially they have to.
We have yet to neuter Harri who is coming up now to 18 months old. Although he's a rare breed and has a COI well below average, he fails to meet breed standard ( too much black, not...
Harri "came" with the more restricted Lepto vaccination. The vet strongly recommended Lepto4. I did some reading and saw the horror stories and made the decision to re-vaccinate. We are right next to farm buildings, rats are 10 a penny around here and there are plenty of areas of standing water...
This is probably the best online source I've seen - the advice on garden, outdoor and household poisons is sensible too. It's more detailed than the PDSA one and much more accurate.
Dog poisons in your kitchen
Now that PDSA link really sums up the whole problem with these lists. Raw eggs and meat??? That's going to upset the raw feeders and Harri loves his raw chicken wings.
Just labelling mushrooms as toxic is really misleading - some species are certainly but then they are for humans too. The...
I think they all have stretchy bits in them so the cat can wriggle out if they get caught on something. We lost a couple of collars this way. I gave up in the end when I saw the cat deliberately rub his neck against a twig so it caught in the collar and he could escape it!
