My mates dog was a barker out in the garden. He used to drive everyone nuts, any noise from next door and that was it.
I told him to cut a hole in the fence low down and put mesh over the hole. It was like magic, the dog stopped barking. It wasn't magic, the dog was only barking because he couldn't...
Have a look at Border Terriers, they are great dogs. Known for being people friendly, but also children friendly. They are intelligent and good to train.
My borders were all working terriers but that didn't stop the kids dressing them up in skirts and tee shirts. I would often come home from...
Just like @lurcherman I've always done my own dogs nails if they've needed doing. Like he says it's just something I just get on with and the dogs just stand there.

I've managed perfectly well all these years without one. So I'm not a fan.

I don't have insurance, but have a dog fund for emergencies.

All mine have slept at the side of me in a puppy pen. Easy for a reassuring hand to settle them down. Besides it a great way of making that unbreakable bond between you and your pup.
Mine is 18 now, all her life she was fed like a olympic athlete and exercised like one too. Now she can eat what ever she likes. Don't get me wrong she still gets good food. She never gets the same food two days on the trot. So at 18 she still trots up with her tail wagging ...what am I having...
