My lurchers did 30 mph easy and I was happy with that as they was hunting game, we expect that! But a out of control dog not under control is something I can’t except,
Your only job for now is to keep your young leggy animal safe, I still say safety for now should be in your brain, ringy also said 12 months and I agree fully,, a sighthound with dodgy legs for me would mean a life of no fun for me and hound.
Only thing I can say is it should be leads for now, big dog, big bones , so need time to build, another 5 to 6 months then you can slowly up the tempo, the bone growth in these dogs and most dogs to be fair is very important.
Sad loss as always, owning lurchers it’s a thing at times you have to come to terms with, but losing pets that’s not in your total control is something I will always struggle with, I feel your heartbreak,, short story at the age of 5 I almost lost my lurcher to my van being stolen, I take her...
I sometimes disagree with not letting them cry, you got to see how much they are crying, I will tell you a story , my girlfriends mum had a gsd x and they just didn’t have a clue, they was too close to smothering, so they asked for help, I got a big long cardboard box, put her blanket in, right...
All types of dog are different I.e. small lap dogs but if when young you let your dog see water, wind, cars, as much as possible and if you seem to be having a problem don’t pick the dog up or overplay the problem then mostly things are cool, my last 3 lurchers never gave a problem with water...
Yes they do look a nice dog and yes ash I do see the words Romanian and Greek and think just that, because like it or not there’s been some nasty foreign dogs recently treading our parks .
Dogs can be weird in what they see and what they think it is, I was walking a cocker only a few days ago and with the rain a big flower was bent over and the dog went nuts and gave it a mighty stare , I just carried on as normal but I was laughing my head off inside, it’s important to make it a...
Nothing better to see then flying over the ground at breakneck speed, mine was hunters so there’s also dangers at 30 mph , looking back I was lucky on more than one occasion but that’s the life of a flying speedster
Does sound like a very good harness is what I’d be thinking off at this stage, I walked a big strong mastiff x bulldog and until he knew me and vice versa I had two leads on him , one on his collar and one on his halti
All or should I say most dogs are easily trained to this, start from the sitting position and then a paw , all my dogs I’ve had must be able to take gently from my lips, and they did, my next door neighbours dog was a 9 stone mastiff bulldog, geez I was going to lose this one ain’t I? Within a...
Ok josie, I honestly don’t see it as racist thow , too much pc from a changing world, I accept I’m a bit close to the bone at times but ok I will accept your warning instead of carrying it on.
