How long do you think is a reasonable time to leave a dog on its own when your dog sitting? I know you have a certain routine when its your own but as a dog sitter i feel extremely guilty if i even have to leave for an hour or 2. This is mainly because i also do dogwalking and sometimes its just...

Yes. It doesnt bother me or most of my dogs to go out in the rain. Sometimes it can be a nice change. Though I dont spend the day out like i enjoy doing when its sunny.
I have a dog staying with me at the moment. She cant stop scratching under her arm and its red. The owner told me that she has had problems with allergies in the past and has just come off steroids. She also suffers from pancreatitis but he said since they changed her diet and took her off the...
Strange. You say he whines around the time you feed him. Is he whining for food or more food, or maybe a different type of food? My dog does the same. He knows exactly when its dinner time. He knows when he goes out for a pee. Its rare he whines unless there is something that he needs. It is...
Thanks. They are 2 puppies of similar age playing with each other. The 10 month old is being overpowered by the 5 month old all the time and he doesnt fight back much. Hes quite easy going. She is extremely difficult to catch even on a trailing lead as she is so fast. And jumps on him quicker...
Yes she should be ok with 4 hours. That is the allowable time for dogs to be left alone. Does she stay in a crate when you leave? Maybe try settling her in it with some blankets, toys, treats etc. Things to keep her occupied.
I started doing the trailing lead thing on friday and am going to try and do it more next week and bring treats with me. She is way to bouncy for my spaniel to handle. He hurt his leg last week probably because of her jumping all over him. How do i pacify her?
Did you have a particularly exciting weekend before the week began that you had issues? Could be that she became used to the increased interaction with you and felt suddenly anxious at this stopping. Have you thought about doggie day care or a dog sitter?
Thanks for the advice. I just feel harsh for her when they growl at her. I'm maybe a little too soft. And I worry that they would hurt her. They are gentle dogs but everybody has a limit. And if she keeps on and keeps pushing them, they may snap. Also I don't like her antagonising them, because...
I look after a cockapoo puppy for a few hours most days during the week. Shes 5 months and adorable. But i am having an issue with her jumping on other dogs when she wants to play and gets excited. When Im looking after her its generally with my family cavachon and spaniel puppy (10 months) i...
God that sounds awful. What breed of dog are they? Some breeds tend to be more hyperactive than others. But this still isn't normal behaviour for any dog. I'm a dog sitter, not long been doing it and I have been very lucky with the dogs I have had so far. Though I try and choose dogs that I...
How many hours is he left during the day? You are right that you can't be the only one that has a puppy and works but they do tend to have a dog sitter or walker come in during the day. Do you have anyone come in to look after him? I'm a dog sitter and walker and am currently looking after 2...
You'll probably find the advice for this on other threads. But the obvious things are; have a place that you take her to to wee. e.g a place in the back garden. Then use a key word such as 'wee wee', so initiate her going to the toilet. Do this every hour or so, especially after she eats and...
Ah bless him. He seems very sweet. I have heard dogs tend to eat grass to make themselves sick. Though since I've been dog walking/sitting I've noticed most dogs do it generally. I expect they are interested in the smells of the spring :) and what it tastes like. I know a lot of dogs don't...
That's a strange one if his poos have been tested and everything is clear. It doesn't sound right. Though him eating everything in the garden won't be helping. Dogs do have strange habits though. I have noticed elastic bands in my dogs poo the last few times I've taken him out. he's an odd ball...
Difficult one. I think it's crazy that people get dogs when they don't have the time and/or energy to look after them properly. Or at least the adequate income to pay for someone to look after them properly. It would certainly upset me! Though whether to get involved is a tough one. Are your...
How do you deal with possessiveness when looking after more than one dog at a time? They all seem to dislike each other because they all want to be with me all the time and don't like it when the other one is close to me. I try to make them all feel welcome. I'm only allowed 3 at a time, so its...
