Hi there. I'd just like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and to say a big thank you to everyone for all of your help and advice over the year. I think we're finally getting somewhere with Lilly. We've have the odd episode but we've managed it with Logic Firm and not needed to use...
Dear All, I thought you might like an update. At the min Lilly has been well for a month! We had one day last week when we thought it had returned, but I gave her Logicfirm which did the trick! We've kept her on the Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal wet food but added in Pro-fibre pellets which is a...
Thank you all for your advice. Lilly will be having her last antibiotic tomorrow so I plan to give her a probiotic this time and see if that helps.
I don't think we're going to go for the Purina. We can't see it beening any different from the food she's on at the min, plus it's very expensive...
Hello, Lilly's test results are back. Her B12 is normal and so is her Pancreas. He said it picked up something being low in her small intestines, I thought he said solate but not sure what that is. He suggests changing her diet to Purina HA see if that helps, if not then we may have to have the...
My trip to the vets was a bit stressfull. Lilly is absolutely petrified of the vets after a bad experience when having her jabs. I hate seeing her like that. He's doing some more blood work and depending on the results he's going to change her diet. It may be she's lacking vitamin B12 which...
It does feel like we're going around in circles. She was ill 7 times! last episode at 9.45pm but thankfully that was it and we both got some sleep. Her more than me as I was listening out for her incase she wanted to go out. I'll let you know how I get on with the vet.
Thank you. I'll try and get them to do something other than dish out more pills. I've seen the same vet the last few times. He keeps saying it could be anything. I'll see if he thinks a specilist is an option. He doesn't seem to worry much as she's fit and healthy and not being sick, but it...
I've called the vets, she's ill again. I feel this is the start of another sleepless night. They've said put her back on the pills and take her in at 5pm tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say. I'm guessing not much that I don't already know.
Thank you, this is great.
Lilly has just been ill again! She was ok first thing and lunchtime but back to diarrhea. Should I go to the vets? She ate a soft stick at lunchtime. I managed to get her to drop a couple but she ran off with one. She's been ill on and off for 3 days now. She's ate...
I think on this occasion it is. We've been teaching leave it and even gone to classes to try to help. We've got to the point when she's amazing at it at home inside but we can't get her to relate it to things on a walk. I can even put a treat on each paw and say leave it and she will. She came...
I love italian greyhounds! We were going to get one but after looking into it we thought the Whippet better as a first dog. We meet a lady that had 11! all adorable. How lovely she lived until 17!
We've kept to the same food thinking that she can be well on it and if we change it and she's ill...
Hello, Lilly's ill again. It started at 3am Tuesday morning and then had a bit of form at lunchtime but back to diarrhea by the evening and in the night. She does have a lot of poo for a small dog! Between 6pm and 5am she went 6 times.
Looking at my lilly notes there is nothing that stands out...
I thought you might like to know Lilly has been well for nearly 3 weeks!! It's broken the every 2 weeks cycle that turned in to the every other day cycle.
I'd just like to thank everyone for responding to my post. It's been a great help having people to talk about this with. I'm very grateful...
What a good thing you kept going back! Our vets is a husband and wife team with one other vet employed. I've seem all three of them at some point. I agree the next time I go I'll ask to see a specialist. Lilly has now been well for 6 nights!! I'll keep you posted. Thank you for all your help and...
Ha ha Lilly's the same, doesn't like getting her feet wet. I know where the muddy puddles are on my walk so I'm quite good at keeping her from them. Odd occasions she has out smarted me but I've not known her to be ill on those occasions.
I think my vet latched on to the Giardia harbouring idea...
She is a small whippet. Her mum was only 16" and Lilly seems a tiny bit smaller. She can hold it for a very long time! if it's raining she will hold it longer!! She does a last pee at 9.30-10pm but not a poo.
The vet asks for a sample from 3 different poos. The last test was from one of her...
Lilly was ok last night! 3 nights sleep in a row. Bliss!
One of the vets said it may be that her tummy is harbouring Giardia and it's not getting killed off completely so it keeps coming back, but the tests say it's not showing up. He just wanted to control it with Tylosin when it flares up...
I forgot to say.. I can totally sympathise with you walking around the garden at 4am in the morning! It's horrible seeing them ill and not being able to do anything about it too. I've also just Googled protein losing enteropathy. Your poor whippet, it sounds painful and must be very worrying for...
