Love only goes so far ?

Being elderly we were never going to have a dog, certainly not a puppy, but due to circumstances we had Dudley a five month old. He is now just over three. Hopefully we will remain active for several more years. Certainly at the moment he keeps me going five miles a day at least. Had open heart...

    Clover's Diary

The only other dog we had was a rescue called Shadow. My daughter was nineteen when she died she was very much her dog. At 44 she still has the ashes. The rest of her dogs, cats, rabbits etc are buried in her garden but she says Shadow never lived there. Dudley is only three so I hopefully...

    Exposure/flooding to triggers

When Dudley was just seven months old we went to a DDay re-enactment on Saunton Sands. There were planes landing on the beach. Maroon with big bangs, smoke bombs, gun noises etc. He never blinked or acted distressed. This was not deliberate He has never worried about fireworks, lorries etc...

    Dogs behaving badly

Some would say I didn't really train Dudley. We went to three classes and hated them. Somehow he learned to come when I called. Walks very nicely to heel and waits at the road when I tell him to. I did some sort of long line (washing line) in the garden and used treats. He did just seem to...

    just a rant

I visit a border collie daily. The next door neighbours have two dogs which they send out into the garden when I let Dudley and the collie into the garden. We then have several minutes of the next door dogs and the collie throwing themselves against the fence and barking. The dogs can't see one...

    Amazing Dog Abilities!

Having spent a lot of time with pregnant women I found dogs liked to be around during the check ups. They were always very alert when they heard the heart beat. Several of my ladies had the dog in the room while they delivered One particular lady had the dog as her birthing partner and he lay...

How often do you walk your dog?

Twice a day. Off lead in the morning for at least an hour. Then we go and visit the collie we see every day. They both play in the garden. Afternoon/early evening an hour. That doesn't include coffee mornings, lunch outings and visits he does with me. Given that he is a small dog that seems...
