    Dogs left in hot cars

He has never been left in the car. In Homebase last week one of the cashiers saw me struggling with an outdoor table I had bought and Dudley on his lead. She suggested I leave the table with her, put him in the car and then come back for the table. I told her this was unacceptable and she found...

    Rabbit

I have been making Dudleys food for a little while now. Mostly it is chicken but our local butcher sells skinned and jointed rabbit. Would this be ok to give him. I am aware there are small bones involved in rabbit, do I pick them out, or do I feed it to him with the bones.

    Dogs left in hot cars

Not only dogs, but small children. Read frequently about babies being left in cars and actually dying. One today because her grandfather 'forgot her'

    Signed up for classes.

Had a similar problem with Dudley. He was six months old and I was told he was too old for puppy classes. I then had to wait eight weeks for the course of adult classes. We lasted two sessions. He was very good, he would sit and walk properly on the lead, which was actually the start of him...

    feces problem

I can see the point but we didn't cover the house with pads, he had one at a time. It did work for us but as I said he lived in a flat previously.

    feces problem

I like puppy pads. For the first six months of his life Dudley was mainly living in a flat, making puppy pads a bit of a necessity. When he came permanently to us I left the pads down but took him outside every two hours. After little less than two weeks he didn't use the pads at all. A...

    Grooming in hot weather

Dudley is being clipped again next week, even though it is only just over four weeks. He doesn't shed but his coat ha really grown and thickened up. Seems more than in the winter

    Lungworm

Apparently there is an increase in lungworm in dogs. Dudley has Milbemax every three months for worming including prevention of lungworm. Apparently it is now recommended that dogs receive Milbemax monthly for prevention of lungworm. I discussed this with my vet today and she agreed that dogs...

Dog sensitive stomach - try this

Dudley is just under 9kg and has 40 grams of Canagan a day with 20-30 gms added wet food or chicken, beef or occasional salmon. His total daily intake is 60-70 gms. He has very few treats and they are taken off his total allowance. I feel the recommended amounts of Butternut box would result in...

What are peoples thoughts on this?

It was tongue in cheek. My little dog is an 'accidental' mating from a someone who didn't believe his girlfriends chichuahua could possibly get his in season Bichon pregnant. He now knows better and told us both dogs would be neutered so there would not be a repeat.

Dog sensitive stomach - try this

I just want to feed meat that I know was ethically obtained and preferably from the UK. I still want to feed Canagan kibble but with some meat as a topper. Canagan tins are not really an option because I don't want an opened tin to last a week even with freezing it. If I was certain I could...

What are peoples thoughts on this?

Seems a bit sexist to suggest spay the bitch but don't mention castrate the dog. Poor females blamed for everything

Dog sensitive stomach - try this

Thank you. Our local butcher sells goat which I understand is quite strong. I used to give Dudley yogurt when he was younger so I will add that again. I am keen on doing his own food but did wonder if I needed to give him additional vitamins and minerals. He has occasional bones only, he is...

Dog sensitive stomach - try this

What food do you make for Murphy please. Dudley left the chicken today. Yesterday he had beef which he ate. Normally he loves chicken. I don't know whether or not to add vegetables.

    UK sourced canned dog food

I will probably freeze some for him. Also cooked some chicken and minced beef portions for him today. A friend who I had not seen for a couple of weeks said today that she thought he had lost weight. Being panicky and paranoid I called in the vets and weighed him. Still the same weight...

    Puppy motion sickness

When I was a child (many years ago) my dad fixed a chain to the back of the car because that was supposed to work. I think that was supposed to be a grounding sort of thing. Another thing that was supposed to help was sitting on a pile of newspapers. That didn't work either. I think it is...

    UK sourced canned dog food

I looked at the Canagan tins but they are only large tins and would be too much for Dudley in one day. I have emailed Canagan about their kibble and they assure me it is all sourced in the Uk

    UK sourced canned dog food

Thank you everyone. For the last week I had been adding chicken to his kibble. But I am worried he is not getting all the goodness he needs. I will look at Pooch and Mutt and the mince meat is definitely a good idea as we have an extremely good local butcher

    UK sourced canned dog food

I feed Dudley Canagan dry food. It is packaged in the UK and supposedly free range. I do like to add a spoonful of wet food. Have been using Applawse but have now discovered the meat is sourced and the food tinned in Thailland. Lilys kitchen is Spain. I really do not want to use a meat which...

    Already introduced but...

I bought a cheap one called Clever dog. Never a problem setting it up.. Contacted easily to my phone. Even works in the dark. I have to say my granddaughter has it now for her tortoise.
