I've got a full time job. I need it for stuff like rent and dog food so I'm afraid Kay will just have to stomach the boredom until I win the lottery. :D She sleeps at home while I work for 9 hours, who's really got it worse? :p
Dogs are social animals so the less alone time they have the...
If you want the true experience of being a good breeder, select a breed and an appropriate puppy, train it up in a breed appropriate sport or in the show ring, fork out for the necessary health checks for your breed, work and work and work until that dog has earned a respectable title and then...
Breeding is not beneficial for a dogs' health in any way, shape or form. Whatever you've heard is a myth. Out of curiosity, which rescue did you get olive through? I haven't heard of a rescue that rehomes dogs without a neuter contract. It's definitely something for you to contact them over...
The only good reason to breed is to contribute something positive to the breed. There are enough pet dogs in shelters, nobody needs to breed them. Surely the puppies have a neuter contract as Olive was pregnant while at the shelter.
Kay will only chew dog bones! Even as a puppy that was the only thing she was interested in chewing.
The only dog I've had to never chew something she wasn't allowed. Definitely a luck thing, I think she just doesn't know other stuff can be chewed
When I was working 7 days a week back in the summer, Kay would be on her own for 13 hours a day! I'd get a neighbour to come in and make sure she had water and the chance to go out a few times a day but she was essentially alone for all 13 hours. She bossed it while I had to do it but thankfully...
That's just Tizer, my brother's dog. He's 1% loaded in that photo.
Kay's ears are all over the place. I was assured she'd grow into them but I'm not seeing it! :D Just another set of pics.
Get ready...
GO!
Her ears doing their own thing again

I'd love a Caucasian Shepherd, but until I move to a farm in the mountains I'll remain Caucasian Shepherdless :p I like guarding and herding breeds really, but a Podenco Canario could come live with me any day. I don't think there's a breed of dog I would rule out. I don't really like the look...
I can't say much about e collars as I think they are bizarre! I've never used one. I've got this thing where if I wouldn't wear the collar myself, I can't put it on the dog. I've taken a few electric fences to the shin in my time but that's as far as my experience goes. Electric shock therapy...
All my dogs get chipped but I can't see how anyone can enforce it. They have a law that says all dogs have to be microchipped and nothing happens to the people who haven't chipped their dogs.
Kay would be mortified if she messed in the house and has only gone inside if I haven't let her out in time. I think her last accident was at about 5 months old. I never remember having problems housetraining puppies, even the litters we had would make a mad dash for outside once they realised...
He's adorable! :D
I agree recording him when you're away would be a good idea, you'll be able to gauge his state of mind from his body language.
I would just lift everything out of reach if all he is doing is destroying items instead of furniture, and leave a few strong chews for him to munch...
