Warning to all and a lesson learnt.

When out walking, I am spreading the word to other dog walkers and asking them to warn their fellow dog owners. I would not want anybody else to experience what we went through. Fortunately for Brooke and ourselves, she seems not to have been affected by it. Someone else might have a different...

Dogs aren’t the only animals affected by fireworks

Post the fireworks I have brought the dog's evening walk forward a few hours so that it can be done in the last of the daylight. It worked well last night. Her bowels have been fine today. Not looking forward to the one today though (about a half hour from now) as its very wet and windy. The...

    Fireworks

I was talking to somebody this morning who gave their dog steroids for calming purposes. Is there a downside to this?

    Fireworks

I should add that the helicopters only bother her for a night or two after the fireworks.

    Fireworks

Last year she was as upset as well. The trouble is that we are almost on the flight path of a military airfield and helicopters with their flashing navigation lights can concern her though she quickly gets over it.

    Fireworks

Just being home indoors has calmed her, meanwhile I am having a glass or two of red wine to see If that helps her!

    Fireworks

Tried to beat the start of the fireworks this evening with Brooke to clear her bowels and have a Lee but to no avail. She was frightened so I got her back home asap. A friends dog likes fireworks so it makes me wonder what Brookes earlier life was like to make her nervous of bangs and flashing...

    Lost my best mate

Deepest sympathies Jonny. I hope that you manage. We can try to say the right words but only one person knows the grief that you are suffering and that person is you. Take care.

Lurcherman, I have followed the posts and realize that you meant well. I was gutted about the dog and misinterpreted your post. Apologizes.

Brooke will be seen again by the vet on Friday. She is more of herself as the week goes on. Take care all. Look after your four legged friends.

By the way. I cannot see any amusement in the subject. The dog was on deaths doorstep due to eating some irresponsible drug using idiots vomit.

So, Lurcherman, how long did it take you to normalize?

What I meant to ask is that will she get over consuming the drug given time?

Warning to all and a lesson learnt.

Brooke is home and happy. We think that she is back to her old self apart from feeling hungry and asking for her food far earlier than normal. The vet tells me that someone on cannabis would be munching food and agrees with me that Brooke is showing those characteristics. I am awaiting a phone...

Warning to all and a lesson learnt.

The vet told us that if we had not acted when we did, we would almost certainly lost her. They are putting a warning out on Facebook. It has been an emotional period of time. We shed tears of sorrow in the afternoon and joy in the evening.
