My 6 year old whippet has always been prone to reverse sneezing, particularly at this time of year. He goes through spells of it being really bad and then it disappears for a while. I tend to massage his throat to ease it and that helps.
He has been having a wee bout of it for the last...
My dogs sometimes get their raw food frozen! I don't make a habit of it but if I forget to defrost in plenty of time they get it frozen. It's actually better for Cash as he gulps food down so quick even with his slow feeder so it slows him right down and means they need to work harder...
excuse me I need your expertise. I picked up a couple of whole rainbow trout that were reduced to 93p and they have been in the freezer for the last fortnight. I have never fed the dogs whole fish before do I just give them as is? Or do they need de-boned??
Pizzles are the male part haha! Mine love a pizzle but never seen them particularly large.....we have a daycar/shop near us that sells a wonderful assortment of treats - chicken feet, dried fish, pizzles, dried liver, all sorts!
I don't have kongs for mine but I do have balls which you can...
No! I am sure I came across a litter of pups online at some point but I wasn't looking for a puppy, I prefer to rehome. Seems easier to get a pup than an older dog.
I buy nappy sacks as they are much much cheaper. But then I only have 2 little raw fed whippets so there poo isn't bad to pick up at all......I had a friend with an akita who was kibble fed and he didn't like the nappy sacks so much.....haha
I have rehomed dogs with much less info than you have on this one....in fact I have rescued dogs with zero information so personally I would but everyone is different.
I wouldn't put mine in kennels. they wouldn't forgive me. I am lucky that my friend is a dog walker/sitter so she can come and stay in my house or the can go and stay at hers and they love her. You may have a similar business/agency near you?
They were in Morrisons reduced to £1.20 each so I thought it was a nice treat for them. I am vegetarian so I don't know what meats are tough haha I just thought it looked it! But it took Cash about 0.5 seconds to down it and they appeared to love them! thanks
Excuseme....I need you!!!! Tonight I bought lamb shoulder for the whippets. They haven't had it before is it OK to give them whole? I like to give them as much as possible without chopping up as I feel they benefit from working foe it. It does look quite tough though...

Has your whippet always done it Biker John or is it a new thing?
I'm thinking that Joanne, I just wanted to check it wasn't an obvious sign of some kind of distress. The whining makes him sound sad but everything else about him says "I'm happy" I read online somewhere that the whining can be...
My little whippet boy loves all toys and is the most playful dog I have ever owned! He gets so excited when I bring new toys home. A couple of weeks ago I brought them some new toys home (as I often do) and he has taken a real shine to one of them! He will literally carry it about everywhere...
Lucky you biker John my whippets come in with very muddy feet! I have a pack of "muddy paws" wet wipes and a towel by the door so as soon as I get in each paw gets a clean with the wet wipes then dried and then we are happy!
My little Dolly sometimes has the odd wee in the house. She has done it since I got her. When I first got her I thought it was the upheaval of ANOTHER new home in her short life. She much improved with me but still has the odd dribble. About 3 months ago now she took a little tumble on the...
I use a dog walker on days when I am working. I do the early Morning, dinner time and last night walk myself and she comes in in the middle of the day. I have known her all my life and she is qualified in doggy first aid, dog behaviour etc etc.....any dog related course...she has done it and...
A dog walker may be good to let your dog have some socialisation and exercise in the middle of the day
As for a companion that is your choice. Personally I have always kept at least 2 (but usually 3) dogs together. I believe, as pack animals, they should be kept with their own kind. Yes we...
Hi
I agree with the above, look into a greyhound. very lazy and laid back, happy to sleep, like you, they aren't always keen to go out in the rain!! lol I have whippets and although they too are very chilled out I have found my greyhounds/greyhound cross dogs much more so!
as for walking...
