Our young Whippetty Lurcher of almost 6 months is very rough in play and nips with his teeth and just runs headlong into the other dogs, I know that this is common but has anyone any tips to bring this under control? I have had to buy a muzzle as last resort but can't bring myself to use it, he...
He is such a beautiful dog and I have never heard of Silken Windhounds before now, oh Boy would I love one of those, I have been looking online and they sound like fantastic dogs temperament wise too, Spice would be perfect here as we have lots of ferrets.
Are there many of these dogs being...
I wouldn't get any type of dog under say 2/3 years if I was going to have to leave it for long hours alone, a puppy needs an awful lot of training and input, for instance how do you house train if you can't catch it doing what its doing? it would need putting out for a toilet break probably...
My Lurcher does something like that but its not a nudge, she tends to stand in front of me facing outwards a lot, I hope its not an adaptation of standing over each other or she will be in bother ;) I kind of think she is saying that I belong to her and she is guarding me, so long as thats...
Thank you very much thats really interesting for the future as I will be getting a couple of new coats later in the year I think, I will PM when I am ready to get one, does she have a web site? or just do it in a small way from home?
Mine all sleep run but only 2 make noises, the shaggy lurcher tends to yip and growl a lot, the little Heinz dog makes the most noises, she yips, whines, and howls sometimes...but then she makes a lot of different noises when awake as well.
The saddest thing that I have noticed is that when I...
Thats hopeful then, I suppose that over 12 is the time that a lot of dogs get ill and particularly big dogs are not known for being long lived, I hope that the terrier in mine gives her a bit of vigor, saying that I love lurchers and I don't think that I could ever be without one.
You know what she is a fabulous little dog, and the quietest of the bunch, mind you she does tend to set the others off in naughty behavior...like the barking as we run out of the back door game that was her idea, she never does the barking she tells the others to do it grr.
Most of the time...
My dogs have 2 meals a day, the larger meal in the morning and a smaller one at tea time, they have CSJ complete with a spoon full of Chappie, chicken stock, or left overs that are suitable for a dog, just to make it a bit more interesting for them...they do love their food and rarely leave...
I'm happy for anyone to enjoy fireworks, and I like to see the pretty ones myself but what I don't understand or like is the need for the very loud bangers, they are a million times louder than the ones we had as a child, they terrify animals...and me!
I was just wondering what other peoples experiences were on this?
My first little Whippetty Lurcher lived to 12 years old when she had a severe stroke :( her Sister though lived about another year and a half, my big Greyhound Saluki Boy is around 12 I would think (not sure exactly as he is a...
No I'm not a pensioner :)
I actually joined here quite a few years ago and somehow never did anything (not sure why) but recently rediscovered this place, so here I am saying a much belated hello to all members.
It seems like a great little forum, and loads about sight hounds which I...
Oh dear, there are some sickening instances of cruelty on the Cottage rescue website...those poor animals, thank goodness for the Angels that run rescues such as this one.
