As everyone has said weall understand and sympathise fully with the terrible events you are going through.
How long? Well how long is a piece of string?
It differs in every case. Some people never get over the loss others go straight out and find another dog.
For me its always been somewhere...
Just to say not all rescues are nervous not all rescues come with a huge amount of baggage. My rescued border collie was solid my other rescue dogs have been fairly good but I've now got a dog that I got from a really nice breeder, his siblings are good, but he is as mad as a box of frogs and...
When Murphy was 18 mths we adopted George who was a year old.
They met in a park and walked home together they were bff' s from the word go but we were lucky.
Eating things yes rolling in things yes we always said you could take Remy from the wild but you couldn't take the wild out of Remy. Ive actually seen him flip over a piece of dead wood and suck up the woodlouse as if they were sweeties.
However I think the most revolting has got to be Oscar I...
I can only speak for myself . I'm now on my second beagle both were excitable train pulling arm stretching monsters.
But with a Beagle food is your best friend ,they will jump through hoops of fire to get the food. When we got George he would bark at anything sheep ,horses, cows, dogs, people...
George is 7 today. Hard to think that we've had him for 6 years although he made himself at home right away. He is a little white around the nose and eyes these days but he is still a big puppy at heart.
I know a lot of people say play loud music or fireworks noise to get your dog used to it but that didn't work for us.
What helped was cbd oil pure 2.5% but we started about 3 weeks before the fireworks.
Also a good long walk in a quiet area early in the day so that the evening was just a quick wee.
I know a lot of people hate retractable leads but for the second time in the last couple of weeks we've been attacked by a dog on a long lead because the owner had no control.
The first idiot just let go when the dog started lunging and barking and luckily our yelling made it think twice so...
Your poor son , he shouldn't have been put in that position. I know its frustrating for people with service dogs having people distract them but this lady was totally OTT.
I think the advice Judy has given is really good.
When we got Remy he was about a year old he didnt know his name, not surprising because we gave it to him. So to get him used to recall and his name I put him on a light but very long line and used very high value sausage treats letting him sniff and play then calling him and when he resonded...
I just googled it.. omg half that stuff isnt even legal here. Aversive old fashioned and out of date. I second JudyN .. please stay clear of these kinds of products..
After seeing the vet this week he mentioned that Murphys knee felt a bit unstable and I wondered if a knee brace would be an option to help him on walks. He seems ok now btw, we are not letting him jump, run or climb and keeping the walks relatively short but this isnt what hes used to.
I have...
If you find out let me know. George has been out in the car almost every day for 6 years and he does exactly the same. Whines all the way there not on the way back ... Some days hes more talkative than others. He does stop if I touch him but thats not practical for every journey.
The first dose of painkiller was last night and Murphy had a good sleep , he seems a bit brighter this morning but we are making sure he doesnt get over confident.
