    New Puppy

I will be the proud owner of a Golden Retriever puppy in 2 weeks time, and when I collect her from the breeder she will be 7 weeks old. However I am a bit confused about whether or not I can take her into the garden, or does she have to be 8 weeks old or 12 weeks old before I can do this. Any...

    Is it inevitable?

Thank you for the helpful and thoughtful reply. It,s true that I should have taken action sooner to end her distress, but I just could not bring myself to do it. I suppose I was hoping for a miracle and that she would recover.

    Is it inevitable?

My Golden Retriever died recently and for the last few days of her life she completely lost the use of her back legs. This was very distressing for her, and extremely upsetting for us. We are thinking of getting another Retriever, but my question is, is it inevitable that dogs legs go that way...

    Aspirin

Has anybody had any experience of using aspirin or canine aspirin with their dog? My Retriever is in some pain from rheumatism and a friend has said that aspirin can help. I am just wondering how safe and how effective it is. Thank you

    Arthritis

My elderly retriever has suddenly developed what looks like arthritis in one of her front legs which makes walking difficult. The vet is reluctant to do anything because of her age (16) so I wonder if anyone knows of anything that I can do to help her? Thank you, John

    Dog hotel/guest house

I wonder if anybody has had any experience of staying in a hotel with their dog, for a night or two. A number of places say you can bring your dog but I wonder what it is like. Can they sleep in the same room, and come into the dining room etc. I want to do this but am a bit worried that the...

    Problem with back leg.

My 13 year old Golden Retriever has developed a problem with her back leg. It seems to 'lock' every now and again and she can't move it. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it obviously troubles her. I am wondering if this could be a form of cramp, and if so is there anything I can do to...

Dog ramps for back seat access

I am trying to buy a dog ramp so that my ageing Retriever can more easily get into the back seat of the car. However every dog ramp that I have seen advertised is for helping your dog get into the boot of the car. Anyone got any helpful suggestions as to where I can find a suitable ramp for...

    Dog friendly beaches

I wonder if anybody has got any suggestions for nice beach walks in the Bournemouth area. It is an area that I do not know at all. I am thinking of somewhere that is not too crowded. We are going there on 25th April with our two dogs, just before the beach restrictions come into force. Thank you

    Dog carrier

Does anybody know of a dog carrier that I could use when out walking with my medium sized dog (small spaniel). He is getting rather old now and cannot cope with long walks, and yet I want to still take him with me. I know that you can get carriers for small dogs, but I need one for a slightly...

    Thunder coat

I have come across a coat which I think is called a Thunder Coat and I wonder if anybody has any experience of it. I ask because we regularly take the ferry to the Isle of Wight (approx 1 hour) and our little dog is terrified and shakes all the time. I don't know why, but he does. He is fine in...
