I still say earplugs and ignore. It took about a month for us but he's fine now. Sometimes he howled for 3/4 hours! He knows the routine and he also knows we won't give in. It can seem like a battle of wills but if you don't stick it out now then she will have your life for ever!
Haha. It might be cheaper in the long run! Something that just started as a bit of fun just got serious when he decided that he was going to run 150 yds in 9.4secs! Seems a shame to not run him in some competitions.
Cheers Ian for that.He has been cleared at my own non ped racing club does that count or has it got to be a ped club? Also when does the season start and which is closest to Newcastle? Cheers.
Hi all.
Just wondering what the procedure is to get my pedigree running in pedigree races. He's been running in non ped handicap races and seems to be quite quick so I was hoping to start running him in some pedigree opens. Any advice on the procedures and rules would be a great help.
My old dog got attacked twice while on the lead. Both times the police said it was nothing to do with them with it being dog on dog so don't worry. Also your dog was on its lead and under control so they only have themselves to blame. Their dog wasn't under control which in the end has caused...
We just crated him from day one in the utility. He cried to be out through the night so we went down and let him out. As he got older and his bladder bigger he still cried as he wanted attention not the toilet. Ear plugs sorted the problem. Eventually he gave up and we got a good nights sleep!
There is veg in the nutriment formula along with human grade meat and minerals and vitamins. Orijen is a good kibble if you decide to go down that route. Check the labelling. The higher the meat content the better. Try this website www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk
I've got my whippet on nutriment raw formula. I wouldn't feed him anything else now. He loves it and it's all good natural food. He's 12 kg so it works out at about 80p a day which is cheaper than the kibble we were feeding him and it's much better for him.
Don't really know how it all works to be honest and don't really want to use him as a stud dog yet while he's racing. Will probably only use him when I decide I want another pup which isn't the foreseeable future. I will definitely read up about it though as it might come in handy in the future.
Frankels Enchantment. I would love to give him a go at lure coursing, but there's nothing up here in the north east, as he can run all day. I met a lovely lady called Judith who was up here working and she has 2 peds Tommy and Harry who Frankie has raced against and beaten, and she said she lure...
He's 20 1/2" at the shoulder and is 27lb. Just turned 19 months old and has had a couple of deer already. Caught them but just let them go. Loves to chase like all whippets. Been racing him since he was 10 months and he loves it but no ped racing up in Newcastle where we are so he's been racing...
My lad Frankels Enchantment has plenty of Laguna and Nimrodel blood in him 3rd and 5th generation and he can turnon a sixpence. He is also like a bullet in a straight line. Think this photo captures it well.
Hi
I was just wondering if you knew of any pedigree racing in the north east? I've been time trialling my 16 month old ped for the last 6 months with non peds but would like to get him racing against fellow peds. Also what sort of times would he need to be doing to be competetive? He's 26lb and...
