    A Fed Up Whippet!

Well all seems normal now. No more topping up feeds and pups are over their birth weight, with the exception of one that is just getting plonked onto mum every 2 hours. Phew, now to get back to some kind of normality! I promise now mum is more relaxed I will get some more pics on

    A Fed Up Whippet!

Been to the vets today for a check up and dew claws off. Vet was very pleased with mum and pups and wasn't duly worried about the fact that pups haven't regained their birth weight yet (even though i am!) Topping up with bottle feeds until they get enough from mum, a couple of nipples are free...

    A Fed Up Whippet!

I've decided to leave it to mum. I'll take it from their weights to see if they are getting enough milk. Instead of lying straight she gets up and turns to lie on her other side, this seems to be letting each pup take turns and if a pup is a little noisy I just put it on the nipple for her. The...

    Abandoned And Left To Die

Thank goodness they've been found! Well done! Unfortunately this happens a lot at the moment, could it be the recession? Whatever it is people should get caught and expect tougher convictions than banned from keeping animals for 5 years. It's this reason that sometimes I want to leave my job...

    A Fed Up Whippet!

Just had a look and a bit of a squeeze and she has some milk!! She's letting them onto her but she wont stretch out like last time but she might just be uncomfortable with her stitches to stretch out. Would like to say thanks to everyone offering advice and support, we've not quite got there...

    A Fed Up Whippet!

Sorry we couldn't reply last night. I think the days activities and puppies demands had knackered both me and Terry (Skippy)! We bottlefed the pups at 6,8,10,12 and 2..well Terry did, I had a well earned sleep. They didn't drink much but it was just to pacify them. They were crying at 5.30 and...

    A Fed Up Whippet!

Thanks for the advice, i've got Pm's and may ring you later! In the meantime these babies are crying so i'm gonna give them a quick feed in front of mom and put them straight back.

    A Fed Up Whippet!

This feeding is worrying me. The pups have gone to her but they won't go near to suckle. One of her nipples have shrivelled up. Not sure if I should leave her to get on with it and bottle feed them later if they can't settle. They are quite content for now.

    A Fed Up Whippet!

They sent her home as soon as they could and pups have been with her but the vet said to start feeding them Whelpi. Do you think I should let them try to take to her? Edited to say, before I intervene?

    A Fed Up Whippet!

She is being a little rough. She is cleaning them no bother but doesn't like them going too near her tummy. She wants to be with them though and won't leave the room.

    A Fed Up Whippet!

Well I thought I would have to put them on her but the vet just told me to use Whelpi the first 2 days. They are fast asleep at the moment and mum is nodding off...bless.
