From what I understand, it is for all 'new' dogs ie born from now or a set date(which I do not know)..not all dogs, a bit like the docked dogs situation. If it works, eventually in time all dogs will ideally be microchipped, but until then some will & some wont.
I am not saying it will work or...
What a shame, you have just missed an ideal oppurtunity to go to one of your closest breed champ shows held at Ryton, yesterday.
Its hard really to say which you ought to do first but maybe go along to some open shows to see for yourself if its for you & your dog. Try to ask some breed people...
Utter tosh!!! Rescues rightly or wrongly do have some unusual ideas/rules & unless your home has been vetted, how can they really tell?? I know you have wanted to rescue but have you thought of purchasing an older dog from elsewhere.
I wouldnt give up on a Whippet, as I say my friends live...
I have friends who live in a Cardiff terraced house..so go ahead & contact those rescues. They live not far from the Eastern leisure centre....you would be surprised how many Whippets fit into a terrace house. We have not long moved from a town end terrace & have 5..its just depends on the age...
Try contacting the secretary directly...Mary Anderson..this is the email on the website(which I have just got onto no probs) enquiries@thewhippetclub.com
Try looking on Midland Whippet & The Whippet club websites as they are the closest breed clubs to Coventry. They should give some info that you might need..
General champs are city of birmingham held at stoneleigh in Sept..which is the closest also, others are a bit further afield
I hadnt thought of you tube..there are quite a few crufts ones that amumwithapony can look at aswell. I stopped looking before I spent too much time & would be late for work...will look again later :)
It is not easy to describe in words, how any dog or even any animal should move & either pictures or videos(which can be slowed down to see action better) are easier & more helpful in cases like this.
The Whippet Breed Council has corrulated a booklet which may help & should be available, for...
In my opinion, you shouldnt cut back the meals too quickly...my nearly 9 month old is still on at least 3 meals a day & I wont be changing that now until the spring. She is also still on puppy food which she will also be on until at least the spring.
I think Seraphina is referring to those who stop you/comment whilst out & about where you live, not those on here. The folk on here are experience(to varying levels/time) including Seraphina, that's why the question has been posed (I assume).
Any whippet puppy can be allowed to be on the chubby...
Yes I agree as unfortunatly these days you have to think of the opposite...dog found, this could be useful, where could I get more?!
Its a shame that we have to think like this but the geniune folk(like you whippetsrus) in the world are few & far between & all to full of non desirables :(
Crist the tag would have to huge to get all that info on.
I agree that in accordance with the law a dog should have a tag but if the dog slips its collar this would be of no use(no matter how much info is either on it or not). A microchip or tattoo would be there all the time though.
I would...
Your right there Anne, I was going to enter but rarely do 2 shows on the 1 weekend. Perhaps I plumped for the wrong show but thats how it goes, I would proably have taken a couple.
Thanks for the results
If I see them I do report them but they dont seem to always be removed in some sections.
I know there can not be someone on the forum 24/7 but some threads are digusting/pornagraphic and it seems like an age before they are removed, these are the ones need removing instantly.
