Thanks for sharing that Hulu.
We have only once been without hounds in 28 years, and that for 7 months. The house was too quiet and tidy!!! We had Sam from the Rescue at 7 months old and enjoyed an idyllic time with him until he was 18 months old, when the disease reared its ugly head. We...
When we first got Jacques at 5 months old. he was a typical giddy whippet! We had to crate him 2-3 times a day for 1/2 hour to 1 hour to give Sam a chance to rest. Sam never, ever got cross with him, and the boys even shared the same dish, up until Sam went onto pain killers.I haven't really...
Just the ticket! Who bred this little beauty???? I have never considered that cross before. Sounds a good mix. Good luck with your new baby!!

A quick up date is that Emmas had a "sweep" today,(for those ladies in the know about such things!) so we are expecting this very slooooow labour to really take off now. :sweating:
Please keep her in your thoughts...

We wish this super handsome boy all the luck going. We had a whippet who was marked just like Paddy and we called him Smarty or Mrs Smarty Pants!! Such a gentleman even when he was a pup! o:)
Hope for the right home for Paddy real soon.

I have found a super litter of belington/whippet pups and am waiting for pics of any bitches they may have. OH is warming slowly although he says it will be like having a baby around all over again...mmmm quite!!
Will keep you posted...
As those who have been following Jacques progress will know, we have been without Sam for 2 months now.
Jacques showed dreadful signs of separation anxiety to begin with, but with patience, and the help if those herbal drops, he is much, much better.
He still barks at other dogs from a...
We passed a young squirrel when out on our walk today and Jacques went berserk. Nearly pulled my off the path! I "Cha cha" him when he does something unacceptable and on the way home we passed what could have been the same squirrel playing hide and seek! This time Jacques looked at it then...
My daughter has boy/girl twins aged 9, and the way she has brought them up echo`s the advice given here.
Naturally your girls live together, and will get equal share of love/food/cuddles/joint walks/play etc. But there should be times when they will each benefit from one to one...
Well, we are getting on so well with the walking that the muzzle doesn't seem necessary now. Jacques is much more confident when coming up to other dogs and has even kissed on or two on the nose! I think we will concentrate on building up his self esteem/peace and hope for the best!
Thanks to...
The midwife told Emma labour had started at her check on Wed morning. With the plug very evidently passed it seemed we were on red alert for sometime Wed/Thurs. She is keeping active although getting more uncomfortable each day. My son is on official paternity leave now so they can swing into...
LOLl All quite embarrassing now! Labour has started, but things are moving very slowly. Emma is keeping busy, despite the aches and pains etc but until the contractions are 5 mins apart or waters have broken, the hospital don't want to know. My son is being a patient and attentive Dad to be, so...
Thank you ladies. Seems baby is making a very slow start into the world but Mum, Dad and Bump are well and relaxed. Should be sometime today so please keep them all in your thoughts. I will post pics/news asap. ;)

Just to let you know my son's partner Emma is in labour, as we speak and hopefully the baby should arrive sometime today. Please remember her and my son James today. Prayers welcome. Good wishes too! Will keep you all posted!

Well the day went really well. Jacques was a little overawed by the amount of visitors but coped well. We are adopting a "don't fuss the dog" policy when people visit, and it's working well. He has stopped jumping up and settles much more quickly.
I have noticed thta when my husband walks...
I contacted Jan's gifts on Monday, but she said she no longer did the whippet muzzle. Re the Gentle Leader. If it works on the same principle as the Canny collar, then Jacques will paw it off. If it has a different design, then it might be worth trying. We have a super equestrian/dog/cat...
Ah...thank you ladies! And a nice day it's turning out to be! Lots of lovely cards, 3 precious letters from old friends and some flowers! Even Jacques - who was 3 yesterday by the way! - has been a good boy, enjoyed his walk and kissed a passing Labrador!!!
I love being here although would like...
Well we invested in a fabric muzzle but the design doesn't work for whippets. The top covers their eyes so no good. We have also brought a slip lead or half choke collar. This seems to give us lots more control over his direction than the wide hound collar. With the slip collar/lead we may not...
