http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i415/Annette_Showler/profileofjacques-1.jpg We may invest in a muzzle until Jacques calms down on his walks. Any advice on what sort of muzzle would be good/kind/comfortable for a small whippet?

Well, today didn't go so well. We gave the usual drops 10 mins before leaving. As we left the front path, Jacques spotted two Jack Russell dogs on leads across the road. He went crazy, back on two feet, and barking like mad. His mane was up and he was really cross. The JR`s gave him as good as...
Yes, great strides really.
Two weeks ago he would do somersaults on his lead, and weave across the path. His whining when returning home would last ages. Now he is calmer when going out, and enjoys the scenery much more. His nose is to the ground where it should be!!.
When coming home...
Up to date info on Jacques` night time antics! No problems since. We think he was getting over exited due to going out on his own each day. His sleep was hilarious to watch...jumping and twitching with whines and snorts like a horse!! These past few days he's calmed down a lot...methinks due to...
I started a similar thread to this over on Whippets. We have had no luck with the Canny collar and Jacques. He refuses to walk and just jumps up at me the whole time. He has pawed the slip lead off his nose twice too!
Seems these hounds that pull just need to learn some road manners! We are...
Nina, that was an honest, all round description - thank you! As one of Jacques` traits is to follow me around from 9am to 11pm I wouldn't be happy being THAT on demand to an IG! That said, I know they can be very amusing and great fun, as their life is for living and I've heard they make the...
Masta, I have found most products that offer reviews give the good and bad experiences. Obviously some animals won't respond as well as others to stuff. Rachel Hopton said she has found Zylkene either works or it doesn't. Strange when you consider it's the same treatment.
Jacques has had two...
I've always wondered what the difference is between the temperaments of the IG and Whippet. They are so much alike in looks. Is there a similarity in nature?
Hope the thread attracts lots of positive feedback for you. I have certainly noticed a decline in hound socialising on K9 since I was...
As a whippet lover/owner of 40 years and with 5 grown up children and 4 grandchildren, I would have to say the whippet wouldn't I??? I have rarely found a physical/physiological fault with well bred whippets, although one cannot say their favourite breed is 100% perfect! For me the whippet has...
The instructions clearly say the "dose" specific to the animals weight, can be administered every 15 mins up to 4 does in one hour, if needed. 100% safe and non sedative". That said, Jacques has spent the most laid back, calm, sleepy day today for a long, long time. Perhaps tomorrow I will...
Hi AnnSa. Good to have you aboard!!
We had picked out two lurcher pups before their feet even touched the ground!!! Apparently Paul DOES go home with a doggie in the end!!

Hi Masta. Nice to hear from you!
Jacques certainly knows we are in charge, and only certain behaviours are allowed! I love him sleeping curled up in my back - keeps me warm! The 2 "accidents" are understandable considering the amount of changes that have taken place recently...
Well we have invested in Homeopet's Anxiety drops. 7 drops in a little milk before the morning walk today. Not sure if it was because my husband was with me, but Jacques was def less stressed. Pulled less and didn't bark at strangers. Barked at the one dog though. He has come home panting but not...
We thoroughly enjoyed the 1/2 hour programme Monday pm with Paul but it was a bit heart wrenching. That poor Staffie bitch....at least it ended happily!
Anyone else watch the programme?

Looking into mild herbal preparations in more detail I have found Homopet Anxiety Herbal Remedy plus Vetzyme Stay Calm. Seems there is any amount of preparations to help with anxious dogs/cats but it depends on the animal. We want something to help calm Jacques down whilst still enabling him to...
Night two of Jacques deep sleep violent dreams and just a teaspoon of wee. We took him out twice before bedtime which probably helped empty his bladder. The vet said if we hadn't noticed increased thirst or peeing, then it was probably anxiety that was the root cause. Just as I thought to be...
