Devon update - he is doing ok, hasn't got any worse and is getting very used to being wrapped up in cotton wool and having extra meals!
I really do think that the low fat food, several times a day, with milk thistle added, is doing him some good. I found him chewing a rawhide this weekend and...
Jax, I'm sure you say every year that you'd forgotten how cold it gets at Newark - I'm going to put it on my diary to send you a reminder to wear your thermals next year :- "
Well done Peanut  lets home your mum puts an up to date photo of you on here soon
Thanks everyone, you've given us some great advice, it is very much appreciated. Your experiences are all very different so it's giving me lots to think about  and plenty of questions to quiz my vet with :- " There are options out there that I wouldn't of even considered without...
Yeah, I agree, a pic would be great! Although I did see the coats yesterday - very nice they are too
I wonder if that colour would suit Dermot . . . Maybe Anita will take a pic of him to show us? :D
Erm, that sounds very familiar :- " cos I've got one like that too, life is never boring with one of them in the house! (w00t)
She has grown up into a very pretty lady, I look forward to seeing her do well for you :luck:
Thanks everyone for really helpful pm's and posts.
I've spoken to the vet this evening, she said that although Devon's liver is damaged, it hasn't packed up altogether. It is the combination of the neck/spine problem and the liver results that make his outlook bleak - she thinks that he would...
This isn't to do with showing, but as there is so much interest in health involving show-bred whippets, I've decided to post it on this part of the forum, as this is where the experts seem to be.
Old Dog Devon is very poorly, I've not mentioned it on the forums but this is a last-minute shout...
Sorry Wendy, I didn't mean you directly, I probably shouldn't have used the word 'frustrated' as it does sound like I'm quoting you.
What I'm trying to say is, I can't be the only person who finds some of this stuff difficult to understand (I HOPE!!!). I've had whippets for a few years now...
I know some members are frustrated by the 'back and forth' posts, but for someone like me, who doesn't learn things easily, I find it really beneficial - every once in a while, I read a post that has been re-questioned and replied in a different way, and I think 'Ah! Now I get it!'
Mind you...
Well done Maria and Tia, you must be so chuffed!
Well done to Val too, I hear that Monty's litter sister, Magic, was Res BB (w00t) so I'm extra looking forward to seeing some photos as I haven't seen her since last summer :D
Being a good friend and giving the puppies a new face to meet and greet - positive experiences are so important at this age :- "
Anyway, now the pups are bigger, they need bigger, stronger toes to bite
And last but not least - Fonzo! He decided that he really, really doesn't want to do 'standie-uppies' so he supervised the attack on Wayne's feet instead :- "
