The stpwrc is a straight racing club (which i am a member of although i dont go) and not a lure COURSING club. Therefore my dog or anybody elses dog cant be tested at lure coursing there.
I have tried everywhere to get qualified for the event and the results are as follows:
No official lure...
Over the summer i get mine (whippet and lurcher) out lure coursing with a few mates. I have my own stuff amd like to do it as it keeps the dogs sharp and fit.
Over the winter i get them out working. Ferreting by day and lamping at night.
The summer is just a warm up for the winter for me.
Not being funny but £52 a 12kg bag?
Thats not a working mans price, nor is it a racing mans price. So the answer to your question.....no it wont be the next big thing for racing or working dogs.
I could feed my 3 on chicken breasts and sirloin for £52.95 a month!!!
If you want to break the...
Just got a couple of collars off this lady michelle. She sells her collars on ebay. Cheap as chips at under £9!!!
She makes some lovely fleece collars for £7 too.
And i must say they are top quality!
Shes open to suggestions too. I had a 2" collar made for my lurcher with a 1.5" D loop on it...
i looked at making these collars myself.
The brass D loop and sliders to make 1 martindale is around £5 and the 2" are more.
then add cost of material, lining and time and selling them for a tenner cant leave much profit of any at all.
dont get me wrong. i am a law abiding citizen with farmers who i have permission off. i do everything to keep in the good books and i woild say im a model 'hunter' where respect is concerned.
i am making the point that if your dog is at risk then dont just sit and worry about it, go and see...
i have rang the rangers at holyrood and asked how i get my dog tested.
their answer is they dont have a clue. they have phone numbers of runners from previous years and just invite them back. SO.... it seems loke there is no way of getting the dogs a run in a competition. seems a bit unfair...
jusy thought i would reccomend this lady.
her stuff is really cheap and top quality.

as has been said. its the owner and not the dog.
i read today that a working lurcher had been shot and the vets immediatley suspected a dog fight as "lurchers are soft and cry easily'....what a load of tosh. most lurchers are pretty tough and have a LOT of power.
adding a bull type dog to the...
there are no trespassing laws in scotland. you can walk your dogs anywhere you like aslong as you follow the countryside code (close gates, dont ruin fences etc).
i dont know about you BUT if it was me and my dogs were threatened without just cause i would go round and have a QUIET word with...
Thankyou for that link masta.
Liz... You have failed to grasp what I am saying. You can run your dogs on the lure 100 times in a Neighbouring field but it still has not been tested 'officially'. My dogs have ran the lure well over 1000 times and they don't count as qualified. So you's say.
You have answered my initial question.
I still do not understand how an 'untried' dog is to get 'tested' to have a shot.
If there is no clubs set up officially then how do the 'tested' dogs get 'tested' officially in the 12 months between these events? Is it just taken that the dog has not...
I have my own machine, pullies and land to run it. I'm stating an observation that although this event may well be for 'experienced dogs'- what about dogs that are good to run, experienced and good at it but will
Never have the chance to run in such a 'competition' just because the experience...
How do people enter for these events? There's no coursing clubs about and the one club or heard of has a limited number of people allowed. So where do the new people come from?
This event was a closed entry. What's the point in that? I've lure coursed myself with other for a while but no clubs...
