Can anyone let me know what the breed standard is regarding weight for whippies ? I heard that it was aprox 17lbs for dogs and 15/16lbs for bitches... Just had my 6mnth old Sam weighed for his worming tablets, and he is 26lbs !!! not that it worries me as I am happy to have the extra weight...
Thanks, His main pre-occupation at the moment is rabbits, and spends most his time scenting them through the undergrowth. We are well supplied with them so you can understand his interest. Will try the treat tip though..
Hi All,
Well my 6mnth old pup has been good to train, however over the last month he has become increasingly "deaf" with regard to recall. It has got to the point where he will not return, but does not run off into the distance, and will continue to follow me wherever I am going but does not...
Have just had a look at the M&S pet ins and have now just signed for their no excess plan. Have been in a bit of a dilemma over the last few weeks about which one to go for, now sorted thanks to this thread...
Rabbitrunner ;)
I tried JW when I first had the pup, but he wouldn't touch it. He was fed on raw flesh etc by the breeder, who also has a farm and produce their own organic meat and veg.
Thanks everyone, As beejay said the natural dog diet does not feature carb's.. so I am not going to worry about it.. Some biscuit will be available if he should want to nibble, but up to now he's only interested in the raw meat etc. and he is looking good, coat is gleeming and he is muscling up...
Hi, I have just made up a pot of chicken stock from the remains of the roast chicken, will try that, which seems to the same as you are suggesting. Will report later on how it goes..
Thanks
Dear All,
I am having a problem with my whippet pup eating carb's, I have tried pasta with his fresh meat, which he filters out from the meat. I have also treid wholegrain brown rice with his meat and veg, but this goes through him. I have also tried a good quality puppy mixer with his meat...
Just to reiterate OEH's question, are there any other good Working Whippet vid's or DVD's out there, has anyone put any of there own hunting trips with the Whip's onto DVD. Would be great to see some !! :)
I like the names of a couple of characters from "TOY STORY"
however they are names for dog's rather than bitches
names: BUZZ, WOODY and two not from toy story which I quite like are;
JEEVES, WOOSTER.
:cheers:
Thanks again everyone, he is a little angel and so easy to train, he's only been here five day's and he is sitting, staying and going to his bed when told. He has had one accident in the house, by the front door, which was my fault for not recognising him stood by the door waiting to go out...
Yes Dawn your right, she's a lovely little bitch, a real live wire ! I think she was recently advertised again, she had been booked but the person who reserved her decided not to go ahead. If I had the means I would have had her as well, a real looker !! ;)
