I had a lovely whippet cross (possibly with border collie but not known for definite). My Meggy lived to be very nearly 18, by which time she'd lost most of her teeth, had gone deaf and couldn't see terribly well. She still was eating well and liked to go for a very slow walk around the block...
I wonder if any of you would consider joining me in signing this petition?

Thank you Bertha and TTT. I see you both give bones to your dogs, something I haven't done and think it might be worth trying. What sort of bones do you give? I will get Breeze's teeth done again but I'm not happy about doing it every couple of years and I wish I could keep her from needing...
Firm is definitely the thing! Yes, I'm a Cesar Milan fan, he saved my life with the greyhound, I was in such despair then I discovered his programmes. On the subject of leads, for our terrible terrier we got a fairly short one of the loop type that Cesar uses and found it gave us good...
How I sympathise! Both our dogs are rescues and although not puppies they have both had issues, particularly with other dogs. I've gone home in tears before now, convinced I would never get them to be manageable. It took about a year with Breeze the greyhound before I felt fully confident of...
When we first adopted Breeze 5 years ago at the age of 4, our vet said her teeth were none too good and recommended treatment under anaesthetic. He recommended a dry food which she didn't like but we found she got on well on another dry food with a small amount of moist food as a topper. About...
Agree with the water only then light diet - macaroni cheese works well for Breeze. However, if that doesn't work then Prokolin is very good - expensive but it works. Greyhounds seem to have fussy tummies so I find I need to be careful what I feed Breeze - not like out little terrier menace...
Thank you amumwithapony for bringing this to everyone's attention. I live in an area where there are some people who use dogs for "street cred" and bring them up to be aggressive but like you, i would not have expected such aggressive behaviour from a greyhound cross towards other dogs. Cats...
Hello Flowerpot - I've just come back too. Don't know why I stopped then I couldn't seem to get back on the last time I tried. It was nice to be invited back. It's heartbreaking to lose your dogs but I'm sure you must get lots of love from the little menagerie you still have!
Poor sweet Kim! She will need lots of loves. Why are greyhounds so flipping daft! Luckily so far Breeze hasn't done herself huge damage but we've had two torn dew claws and one other torn claw - three separate occasions, so she definitely doesn't learn.
Hello - haven't been on here for ages. Nice to see people still adopting retired greyhounds. When we first got ours she was quite difficult to feed as her stomach was easily upset. We tried all sorts and eventually got her onto Iams - the one for small to medium dogs, not large dogs, with a...
Just saw your post - I'm so very sorry to hear that your beautiful Max has gone after all he went through. There will be such a big hole in your life now. At least you have Tiny still with you to love and cuddle. Greyhounds are so sensitive to our feelings and I know Tiny will try to comfort...
Some of you were very kind with helpful advice and comments when Penny the little Yorkie came to live with us in January when her owner died. Unfortunately, she went blind just over a week ago and yesterday was taken ill with vomiting. Took her to the vets today after she started to...
So nice to see your beautiful new dog, he looks just like my beloved Breeze and has the same sweet gentle expression. You will never regret taking him, he will give you so much love and happiness. Will possibly cost you a fortune and take over your life but these are minor problems! Good Luck!
So glad to hear your Mum is adopting a lovely greyhound, it will be the best thing she ever does. I'm 63 and live in a 3 bed terrace and when we first brought Breeze home she seemed so TALL!!!! but she fits in lovely. As to getting on with other dogs, depends what sort of life the dog has had...
Oh well done! You will have such love and happiness with that darling dog. And he's so very handsome.
All the best from Steph and Keith with Breeze and Penny
Oh no! Poor Max, after he was doing so marvellously. Is there to be no end to all this suffering for him? Poor little lamb. Hope all goes well now. All the best from me and Breeze.
