Tod is going to do what comes naturally, I rely on the lie of my land, the remotness of the farms I work and the fact that a court would have to prove intent!
When I go out with the dogs I always take my ferrets and spade, if in between sets of burrows Tod put's up a hare what am I to do...
Wev'e all been there when our dogs put up quarry at the wrong time and place!
Murphy a couple of years ago caught two leverets whilst out on a country strole with the family!
And last year Tod when about nine months put up a hare in an unexpected spot and gave chase! I wouldn't ever have a go...
Lamping man I am not about to jump into a slanging match with you, like I said each to their own.
I rarely venture onto sporting dog nowadays because of all the crap and arguing that goes on, this site has always I thought been for the more proffesional less idiotic enthusiast, true working men...
Sparky no wonder your dog caught that hare, the poor bloody beast has it's legs tied together! call that sport? :D
Lamping man you seem in quite a bullish mood! so if your happy to defend running your seven month old what about running hares in the summer?
Think I would be leaving...
Sparky he's just the double of Tod! glad your having fun with him, if he turns out like Tod you will have a winner.
Am very pleased with Tod and can't wait for the winter to come so I can work him proprely in his first full proper season.
Hi Paul yes it was stitched about twenty in total i think! took a bit longer to heal than I would have liked but it was cos Murphy was licking it till I seperated them!
He is back out running and nearly caught an ornimental duck at the park this morning! Murphy is really struggling with his...
Hi Scott yes family all well thanks and yours?
I hate rats too, just love the dogs killing em! No training required Mine just started working em themselves in a field of maize that was overun a few years back, they seem to love killing them more than rabbits.
Yis Andy.
Hi paul Tod is still very much enjoying life up in Scotland, working well to rabbit, rat and of course accidental hares! :- "
Unfortunately despite being a great jumper last week he got one jump wrong and ended up caught on the top strand of some sheep fence!
He's healing well as they do...
Thanks for the replys everyone, as a devoted follower of all things canine and particularly whippets I was interested to see if anyone worked their Ig's and what success they had achieved, love the pic of the trio working a hedgerow is there any more?
I buy just about most of my kit through Arthur Carter, great personal service and never too busy to field questions or answer an enquiry.
Found his prices competitive too.
A Good lamping kit will set you back close to a hundred quid but should last a long life of abuse in the worst of british...
Unless of course you are out ferreting with your dogs when a Hare accidentaly gets coursed  :- " what can you do? you weren't intending to chase a hare but it just happened.
Legally you are covered because any prosecution would have to prove intent.
Of course I'm not encouraging you...
Yeah thanks Beejay it's the North East of Scotland and I am very lucky to have permission to work my dogs and ferrets on nearly twenty farms.
It's taken years of work and some excellent farmers spreading the word for me to get me too this point.
You wouldn't catch me moving away from here ever...
Haven't been on here for quite a while and it's good to be back catching up with the topics in the forum.
Tod is now fourteen months old and fully fit after his injury as a pup slowed his progress frustratingly!
Here is some pics of him doing the job.
That will do for now! :D...
Cheers fella's, yes he is looking good and more importantly he is acting really good, I think he is going to be a better worker than Murphy from what he is showing already and that would be just brilliant as Murphy was pretty good (still not bad considering).
He is just Twenty inches Paul and...
