ok then let me re phrase it
every dog that ran the lure that day was blowing extremely hard compared to most working whippets that I have seen , infact TMC I would like to extend an invitation to you to come spend 5 or 6 hrs lamping with us, then maybe we will both have a better understanding...
you need a chill pill TMC I wasnt knocking you lol all I was trying to point out is stamina was something that no one will agree on or could agree on, and it doesnt matter what dog you used non of the dogs there ran for more than 22 secs and all were blowing hard, these dogs in that condition...
can the mods tell me why in a working section we are not allowed to talk about lamping and catching rabbits?
Do you think it may be better to drop the word working if we are not allowed to talk about what the whippet was originally bred for?
the metal chicken
stamina is something that is how long is a piece of string?
I have seen your dogs lure course and some others, and heard people say things like 3 runs this afternoon what stamina, but at Malton I timed mny of the runs, the longest being 22 secs so 3 runs would be 1 min 6...
whippet fan I agree with most of what you have written except this
A dog that is over muscled (starting to be a bit of an issue with 'chunky' dogs) will overheat sprinting and lack the flexibility to turn and corner.
I live here on the fens you need a muscular dog to have the strength to pull...
hey thats nothing compared to some of the posts on here slagging of americans, australians telling people to sort their own backyards out etc, but we all know you wont report them to nigel as you did me for the post you've just quoted as after all its not posted by me, now how long before this...
now actually you have your wires crossed
an anti bark collar set on minimum can still be felt but is only uncomfortable and whistles first as a warning, a training collar is a different matter and is extremely painfull and YES I have tried both on myself and it felt like getting baseball batted...
whats peoples opinions on them?
should they be used as a training aid for whippets or not?
Personally I think they should be banned, most people who use them tend to have small person syndrome and this normally leads to needing to feel power over something, and are failures as dog trainers ...
its impossible for a judge at a game fair to pick the best worker, also game fairs nowadays dont have many judges who have working experience.A worker isnt a dog that catches an occassional rabbit, a worker is a dog who can mark , quarter, find rabbits etc where ordinary dogs wouldnt, a worker...
its different to using a young male say because all the stress and change that a young bitches body has to go through before shes mature even isnt imo worth the risk, its fraught enough and taxing enough on a strong mature bitch, and personally I think whippet bitches are still acting immature...
proposed classes and confirmed judges for next year, a couple of shocks here for people
