I had issues with my dogs with candles and essential oils. They both started reverse sneezing a lot. Since I've removed the oils and candles, they've been fine.
Wow thank you for the head's up everybody! I didn't know about the Ivermectin thing. I'm going to have to concentrate on some serious training as 12 hrs after eating the pooh he was really ill, with vomiting and diarrhoea. Seems OK now though, thankfully.
Thank you all for putting a smile back on my face along with some perspective! My pup has recently escalated from eating horse and cow dung to dog pooh, so I was becoming very worried about this trend. You've made me realise it is normal, albeit disgusting, behaviour for a 5 month pup. But if...
In my experience mine have been quiet, but there are quite a few in my village and there's a very wide range of temperaments, as you'd expect. JudyN & Hemlock's advice is key...make sure your breeder matches your needs. And obviously training and management are the key to any relationship with...
I've only ever had Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds and always found the Goldies to be easy to train and they're very empathetic dogs...they lock into your emotional state very easily. But remember they can be very big dogs too...my last one was 46kg and his head was huge! He was fully...
Hi. Yes this is Tyr..He's 18 weeks, so we've had him 10 weeks now. But he looks so different now that his ears are staying up! This is him at various stages over the 10 weeks...
Thanks Judy, I was considering that, so it's good to know. I also really appreciated the full post of raw feeding you did which I discovered after I'd posted my earlier query. It was really informative and just the thing for a newbie like me. I've always fed dry complete food, but I'm convinced...
I've been wondering about the very same thing. My 14 week GSD was weaned on raw beef mince with Arden Grange kibble and his stools were massive, often very loose and erratic. I've substituted lightly cooked veggies such as carrot, sweet potato, squash and potato for the kibble and he poohs 3 to...
Hi Sarah, wondered how you're getting on with the separation issues? My 11.5 week old GSD is exactly the same. He makes such a fuss if I walk out of a room but doesn't bat an eyelid when my husband leaves! Yet he is settling well at night and no longer cries at all..last night was my first back...
Good to hear everyone's advice on this topic as I have a 10 week old GSD who lives up to the 'land shark' label! He only goes for my ankles and feet, not my husband's and he's very gentle taking treats and food. So the only time the biting is a real concern is when he's over-stimulated or cranky...
Hi All
Thanks for the encouragement, much appreciated. I can't wait until we can get out and about as he's already bored with the house and garden. We're all so lucky to have our four legged friends, especially now, because I haven't smiled as much in a year, but the tiredness sure is getting to...
Yes I've read that post and the one on separation anxiety as he's a bit of a 'velcro' dog at the moment..both were excellent thank you. In terms of the King Shepherd, you're right in terms of the cross, but it's mainly breeding from particularly large GSDs with the King traits these days I...
Hi Everyone
Just discovered your wonderful forum! Taking advantage of my pup's morning nap time to introduce ourselves: Tyr is a 10 week old (tomorrow) GSD who looks like he's going to make a King Shepherd (vet anticipates him making 50kg+. I've had GSDs before but have waited 28 years - until...
