even 8-10 hours is long to leave dogs on their own, let alone 15. The only way it could work, I think, is if you have a dog walker to come in on the days that you have long shifts. And I would suggest you research that possibility thoroughly before getting a dog rather than after
they do need their nails trimmed, most whippets don't wear their nails down sufficiently just by walking
I would use a hound glove, not a brush, occasionally, and daily hand stroking
Gracle is still listed on that Cork and Kerry homes webpage, scroll down (or do a word search) and she is at the top of this page: http://www.irishanimals.ie/adoptagreyhound.html
interesting that the ccs in an English breed were won by Swedish and Belgian whippets
I hadnt seen the Dutch/Belgian Hello World di Mahana before but I liked her very much indeed. I looked so pleased when she won her class that someone asked me, "Is that your dog?"!
"These three dogs rescued from a New Zealand animal shelter are being taught to drive in an effort to show how intelligent they are - and encourage more people to adopt abandoned pets. The three animals chosen are Monty, an 18-month-old giant schnauzer, Ginny, a one-year-old whippet cross, and...
until very recently this forum was very much frequented by owners of whippets and other sighthounds
I don't have schnauzers, but am reading a book about one man and his schnauzer, "Following Atticus"
I think you and your dog will be fine with the arrangement you have planned. I would like the dog to have more space, but you can do that when he's older. Unfortunately some dogs go on chewing things they shouldn't, well past teething. Sounds like your dog is quite laid back, however. I hope you...

Just wondering how aware are people who are deliberately breeding lurchers that you should never breed a merle (dapple) to a merle as there is a high likelihood of having blind and/or deaf pups in the litter, sometimes pups are born with one or both eyes missing.
Collie breeders normally breed...
The time you leave him isn't so bad really. especially since you do come to see him once during the day; the problem is that he is so young. So an investment in some doggy day care may be good for the short-term; you shouldn't have to continue that when he's more mature. I wonder can you get a...
She's very pretty and it sounds like she has a good temperament and would be an easy dog to look after. I am surprised that Izzie is still featured on the Gloucester Animal Welfare Association website.

This small rescue (a private home) is also currently treating an injured greyhound (cruelty case), not yet available for rehoming
Certifect is a new product which is more effective against ticks than its predecessor Frontline.
I have seen a couple of postings elsewhere warning people to be careful about using the new flea and tick treatment certifect. Some animals are allergic. I saw a photo of a greyhound with a...
