I have had something similar but without the snapping etc.. On Friday morning my old and well used whippet (almost 12) was off her feet, suddenly and completely. Went to vet expecting her to be PTS. No. Blood test revieled a severe infection and liver problems. She was at vet till Sat, on a...

Smokey has been slightly more active today. She is still very unwell but I feel slightly more positive tonight. I do think the hydration mixture is helping - in this heat its probably worth remembering esp for older dogs.

My old lady, Gemma(11), trembles on her back legs when she has been running. She still LOVES to race but sometimes only gets one race, and only on the straights, because of the tremble. I've seen it to varying degrees in a lot of older dogs.

It's not looking very great. She did eat some tea but refused chicken wing - one of her fav foods. She's just lying there. Have made up some water with salt & sugar ( recipe on Chit Chat ) in the hope that it will give her some energy. :( :( :(

Smokey now home. Not her usual bouncing self but better than yesterday. She's got impared liver function - tablets & special diet! Tablets 'BAYTRIL FLAVOUR' any idea??? To be checked next Sat. £200 the lot! At least she' still here ..........for the time being. Thanks for all the...

OH rang vet this morning - didn't ask the questions I would have. Anyway we've to pick Smokey up ( yes chelle from the Links ) about 12. So fingers and toes crossed everyone! Doris you are still in my thoughts. Our Scottie had Cushings I know what you are going thru'.

OMG Doris my heart goes out to you. I am not planning to leave her there past tomorrow. Before we rescued her she spent weeks at a vets due to a leg injury.We collected her actually from the vets. I HATED leaving her this morning.I'm miserable and so are the other dogs. :(

Optrex and Golden Eye Ointment are brilliant if you catch things in early stages. Sounds like this may have gone past that and needs a vets magic! :- " :luck:

Phoned vet for update. They were being positive but not really saying anything - she's maybe a bit brighter. Anyway she's staying overnight on the drip. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all your good wishes and thoughts.
