Hi Des, I've been owned by whippets for nearly 30 years so perhaps I can help answer your questions. As a breed they are very affectionate, crave human company, are an excellent choice of fun dog for a family and make fantastic affectionate pets. They love being with children-my grandchildren...

Try a big "Stagbone", available from pet shops, etc. My whippets destroy soft toys in minutes, but the stagbones are still intact and going strong. They have survived being buried /left in the garden and the rain!

The only true Lagunas have the "Laguna " affix- that is their Kennel Club trademark. Your friend may have dogs with some Laguna bloodlines, but they not Laguna whippets i.e. not bred by Lilah Wainman,( formerly Bond Gunning). Your friend appears to be contravening the Trade Description Act.

The real Lagunas are still very much alive and running! Lilah has just bred a litter!

There is a programme on the Kennel Club website which helps you decide on a suitable breed for your preference and lifestyle.

I've had a quick look at Ted Spread's pedigree and it is mainly show lines - Janelyn, Jarmane, Nevedith, Bubezi, etc, with a fast racing line- Casaloma, Red Devil, Catch the Wind etc.Hopw this helps.

All the Laguna whippets I know can turn on a sixpence!! Did you get your dog from Lilah or from an advert in The Countryman's Weekly?

Thanks Jason for giving Georgie such a lovely home and a great life. Can't believe that both her and Dobbie, (V.C. Chimes @ Midnight) are 10 now- where have the years gone! Both now officially retired,but still full of running and showing the young'uns a thing or too at South Cotswolds.
