a note recieved from arron atmore which i thought may be relevant to this :-
"....it is a well established fact that three distinct types of greyhound exist today ( though the english bred coursing type is under particular threat, the irish park type developing in its own direction)...
Probably not mate, I suppose I`m fortunate in that I`ve enjoyed coursing for a long time now, some people haven`t been that lucky due to the ban
A great day today, it even stayed dry most of the time. Thanks to Arron and the CA for having us, it was great to support such a worthy organisation- they are the only organisation working for a repeal of the ban. Thanks also to all the runners for coming and supporting this event, it has helped...
To true coursing men, the kill is uninportant, what is important is the course itself, each twist . turn and wrench. The best courses I have had usually end with the hare making good it`s escape after testing the dogs to their limits. If you want a hare for the pot , then it`s a different story...
A lot of talk about coursing and bag chasing on here at the moment. What do you consider the greater challenge to a fit whippet- lure coursing or real hare coursing??
The best days of my life have been spent walking fields in search of the brown and sometimes white hare . It is the ultimate quarry for any running dog . I`ve spent many great days in great company spectating at coursing meets too. I used to enjoy the Altcar club meets in the autumn , I found...
Anyway to get this post back on track, we`re looking forward to another successful display. Arron will be commentating on Wed - he tells me there will be cards made specially for this event , as it is meant to be a simulation of a real coursing event . HRH The Queen is attending the show, which...
As some of you may be aware we have recently launched the UK Working Whippet Club.
Take up of membership has been good and we are now ready to form the committee .
Anyone interested in becoming a committee member please PM me. We will set up an inaugural meeting so the committee can be voted...
Getting rattled now Lampy :D The well known slipper is Arron Atmore, slipper at the last Waterloo Cup , but you`d already know that wouldn`t you. And no I don`t belong to any of the affiliated clubs. I attended several times as a spectator but as I wasn`t fortunate enough to own a whippet at...
Coursing in this country is represented by the various breed clubs i.e the Whippet Coursing club, which the various whippet coursing clubs belong to.
The Whippet Coursing Club is a member of the National Coursing club , which represents coursing by all breeds in the UK.
The NCC has...
Hurrah Henrys , what are those???? With people like you lot on here coursing will remain dead and buried , but there again you`d rather chase plastic bags really wouldn`t you?? (w00t)
It was a convenient way of getting insurance cover and still is but there are other avenues open to meet that need . National Gamekeepers etc for one which is what I will be using next season. Certainly not CA.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You`re missing the point - it`s not just about insurance...
All true, I cancelled my membership to the CA after the ban because I suspected that a deal had been done to save fox hunting at coursing`s expense.
The reality today, though is that if we don`t support the CA in their drive for a repeal then no-one else is campaigning for it. United we can...

All coursers should get behind the CA and support both them and the Conservative party to repeal the unjust law that is the Hunting Act . There will never be a better chance to repeal this unjust and bigoted law than we have over the...
