Poor ruffer - he is worried you are going to leave him I imagine...
I would keep reassuring him and try and maybe do something next to him while he eats, like make a cup of tea or start dinner so you aren't 'just' pandering but showing him you are there...
I am sure that with time he will...
It would be sad to never see a pure bred puppy again...... there is a place for pedigree dogs but i would also miss seeing a scruffy old ruffer...
Its a shame a working solution cannot be found that favours the dogs... it shouldnt be about the Kennel Club or the breeders......
Loads of walking on paths helps to keep them shorter....
I don't clip the claws on mine but they get a good walk on pavements to and from their run in the fields which I think keeps them under control....

The dog trainer suggested no food for 3 hours before travel and something to calm them - there is a homeopathic treatment you can get from pet shops...

Our dog trainer recommends using a horse lead rein, its very long so you can enforce recall until you know he will do as he is told and return without it...
I think working dogs can be a bit of a nuisance in these areas as they aren't often kept indoors, rather in kennels where they generally toilet wherever they like, so bringing them inside can be a nightmare!
I would just keep taking her outside and start a sound/word to associate with going for...
