Of course everybody will have their own opinions and will make up their own minds about him
It just worries me that a lot of people watching CM on TV have no idea how controversial his methods are. He's a great entertainer, a charismatic character (and yes Jex, very fit  )...
She's beautiful I wish I had space here
It's hard to imagine what some of these poor dogs have been through, my first greyhound was completely traumatised and scared of everybody and everything when we first got him but he blossomed into such a wonderful loving dog. Whoever gets...
also please explain why it would set dog training back 10 years,
Harsh, bullying methods, too much manhandling of dogs, everything based on old-fashioned dominance theory which every other decent behaviourist discarded years ago, little use of rewards, no use of modern training techniques such...
Sorry, can't stand the man or his methods, very depressing to see yet another series on TV setting dog training back 10 years :(
Shame people can't see brilliant trainers like Ian Dunbar or Jean Donaldson at work, but they aren't 'entertainers' and training dogs properly demands time and...
Annoying as it is I don't think I'd use hairspray, that would hurt the dog and might do permanent damage to eyes etc, but you can get 'puff of air' cans that are pretty effective without doing any real harm - but I'm usually in a situation where I'm holding several dogs and it's just not...
We were accosted today by a Lab who's owner was of the 'he only wants to play' variety. The dog was friendly, but I had Benji with me who is 17, blind and nearly deaf and absolutely terrified if strange dogs start running round him and bouncing on him, he has no idea what's happening. We...
Bob is a very friendly 9 year old collie cross greyhound lurcher, who loves people and other dogs. Bob likes nothing more than a gentle cuddle and someone to rub his ears! He came into the care of the Oldies Club as a stray from a council pound. It has taken a while to get Bob fit enough to be...
I'm very pleased to report that after all our worries Bob is doing extremely well indeed, and has had no problems or pain for the last few weeks
He was started on Previcox and showed an immediate improvement to the point where we postponed his scan, and eventually have cancelled it...
We have Roe deer everywhere at the moment, they must be about the most irritating creatures ever, they can appear out of nowhere.
I do tend to restrict my lurchers offlead to 'safe' areas, but there are no guarantees. I had them all offlead the other day in a field where I've walked for 10...
As far as the Hunting Act 2004 is concerned Hunting is defined as an intentional activity - ie you have to deliberately go out with the intention of using your dogs to chase or kill. It does not apply to pet dogs who chase something they accidentally meet on a walk.
I would share Esty's...
We've had several Oldies foster dogs over the years who have developed Cushings.
It can take a bit of trial and error at first to get them on the correct dose of Vetoryl, but the good thing is that once they are on the right dose their symptoms have been very effectively controlled and they...
I enjoy this forum, there is such a range of different experience here and I find all sorts of dog-related topics interesting even if they are about things I'm not involved in personally.
With such a range of dogs, owners, experience and activities it's not surprising there are sometimes...
I'm so very sorry :huggles: :'(
It's the kindest decision for him, but that doesn't make it any easier. I'll be thinking of you and Badger this evening.
I'm very sorry about your loss, it leaves such a big gap when they go :huggles:
It would be worth keeping an eye on Southern Lurcher Rescue as a lot of their dog are in foster in your area. I don't think they have any pure whippets in at the moment, but they get new dogs in all the time...
