I have originals of 4 of our dogs by Claire Verity and some lovely Iggy original watercolours by the delightful Fiona Thomson who is in the process of doing a commission of Beth, our black rescue whippet.

I think you sound a loud a good and caring owner. Your concerns about leaving your pup indicate to me that you will do all you can to make him as happy as possible. It's never easy having to leave them but try not to pass your concerns on to him - be happy and relaxed when you have to go (don't...
I'm so dreadfully sorry- what a sad thing to happen. My heart goes out to you - it is always hard to lose a beloved pet but it seems much more painful at this time of year. Take care.
I have 3 whippet bitches - their prey drives are all different. Lily (4) loves the chase and she will kill at the end and then totally lose interest. The pursuit is everything to her. My middle bitch, Beth (3) is a rescue and worked before she came to us. To her the retrieve is paramount - she...
I see you live in Midlothian so presumably any dealings you have have had have been with the SSPCA? Do all your previous comments relate to them as well as to the RSPCA or to both in general?
He's really got your attention hasn't he? Just the way he wants it!! Try ignoring him!
I know it's revolting - humans do - but some dogs just love it, Even my sweetest girl will grab the occasional mouthful. She doesn't bother so much if she thinks I don't care!
He won't know he's doing the right thing unless you are there with him, encouraging him with whatever word you have chosen to use when you want him to go (we use "quickly"), and rewarding him with heaps of praise and maybe a titbit the second he has performed. I'm sure he will catch on very...
How lovely - a whippet pup! You can look forward to much fun!
You are right to be prepared - and to ask lots of questions! Your whippet will have lots of growing to do so don't rush into a proper wide collar until this is finished. Ordinary ones will be fine in the mean time - at least for the...
He is a baby, taken away from his mum and siblings and left alone in a new and strange place. Of course he is going to cry and I don't agree that he should be left alone to do so.
Why don't you put the crate in your bedroom so you can reassure him if he wakens through the night? You will also...
I agree. If he is barking then something is not right. Why don't you try Hula's suggestion of taking his bed into your room at night? You might find that he settles quite happily.
I think it is important to let a bitch have at least one season before she is spayed. I think a number of folk have their bitches spayed before because they don't wish to have to cope with the inconvenience of a season at all.
Hi! I have a mini - she's 12 years old and her name is Mandy. We lost our other mini 2 years ago and still miss her terribly. Sadly Mandy is suffering from chronic liver failure (I understand the breed is prone to that) but fortunately it was diagnosed very early at Glasgow University Vet School...
Sorry! I was just rather taken aback!

My heart goes our to your poor dog. I can't believe you actually pinned him down, and tried to keep him there for 45 minutes. Successful dog training is based on kindness, firmness and consistency. He sounds confused and very unhappy.
You would do well to invest in a good book on training - I...
