That's good if they are serious about it. As long as you are sure they want a whippet for the next fifteen years, through marriages, children, divorce, job loss, house moves etc. And will they still want a whippet pup when it wrecks their garden, eats a 500 quid sofa, an 80 quid pair of shoes...
I think you should list (for yourself) your reasons FOR breeding her rather than thinking 'why not', just so you are sure you are doing it for the right reasons. How can you be sure that your pups won't end up as one of the dozens that are currently being rescued from unsuitable homes? It's a...
Least you haven't got two boy whippets who hump each other when you have them both on the lead and aren't looking....soon as I turn to open the car boot or front door they are at it :o As soon as I say 'walkies', Grover thinks I've said 'humpies' and proceeds lol. Both neutered as well, and...
My foster whippet, Dash, decided I was paying too much attention to a saluki in the park last week so peed on me as I was talking to the saluki's owner..... I didn't realise until I felt my knees were wet and looked down to see yellowy stains on the knees of my jeans. Luckily it was a windy day...
My two are with More Than, just over 12 quid a month each. Had to claim once when Grover had a cyst removed and tested and they paid up no problems. As a word of caution, a friend of mine recently decided he couldn't afford insurance and was going to pay money into an account instead to cover...
Thanks for your replies. It seems that Dash may have a potential home so it may be out of my hands. Happy for Dasher in the long term but not for me :( We have made tons of progress with him regarding the cat, though. He was neutered a few days ago although still keen he can be called off if...
Only two weeks ago I was advising someone else on here about whippets and cats but I'm eating humble pie now so here goes....
Some of you may know that I have two whippets boys who have been brought up with my elderly cat, Gus, and are pretty good with him (they may show interest at times but...
Beautiful pictures :)) We stayed in Derbyshire a couple of years ago before we got the dogs but I would love to take them back again. Not too far from us, either.
I read up on this a while ago as my two get bald patches on their necks and I've tried all sorts of collars. Apparently some dogs (not just whippets) are prone to fragile hair which breaks really easily so it looks short and baldy. I suspect if your whippet is a bit of a puller on the lead like...
Haha that story really made me laugh.
I have got complacent as my two don't generally nick food unless it's very tempting and very near the edge. Yesterday I had to throw a whole loaf out that my foster-whippet had pulled off the worktop and somehow managed to run off with the bag while...
Beautiful girly pup :))
Re:cats..
My cat was 13 when we got our two whippets as pups so they have grown up with him. He gave them the odd swipe when they were little (supervise though -cat claws + puppy eyes = not good) and now has learned not to run as they will chase in order to play...
All beautiful
Well done Ruby! If completely tempted away from my beloved blacks and blues I would go for the red with the little white arrow across his/ her shoulder (third from left) and paint dipped tail as my Roscoe has very similar markings :))
My dogs were out of a black sire and fawn bitch.
The litter consisted of one black/ white (my Roscoe) a white/ black bitch, two blue and white partis (one being my Grover) and four brindle/ white partis!
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that kennel cough is like human flu in that there are different varieties/ mutations around each year - that's why dogs have to be vaccinated each year if they go to kennels etc. So in theory they could catch it again (unless it's a type they've already had but...
What a lovely tribute to your beautiful big fella. It sounds like he had the perfect life with you.
RIP Milo.
Thinking of you and your family, Wendy. x
