    Westhoughton Greyhound Track

Suits me to run to our rules. What day would they be graded on? A lot of ped clubs run Sundays so Sun. morning would be out for most of them. How far along are you with the night racing? Have you ran at Gin Pit this year?

    Westhoughton Greyhound Track

PS: Heard Ellesmere port is opening again too this year. Now that is a galloping track!! We'll just have to concentrate on getting some gallopers.

    Transport needed

We have a minibus with the 2 back rows taken out  giving us 6 seats & lots of space for cages etc. Solves the light problem but try finding an insurer!! I like vans good driving position & ideal in traffic not many have the nerve to cut you up.

    Picking a winner

Hi Rachel I'm surprised you haven't had some racing experts answer you by now. The pin bone/ toe alignment thing is pretty much common sense. A pup that isn't aligned this way isn't going to move too well at whatever it's put too. The long tail thing is quoted a lot by lurcher owners &...

    Handicapping by timing

Because our club is a non-ped club this way the faster peds can get a race with the slower non-peds by handicapping like this.   Hmm here's me been thinking it's an "open" club all these years!! Seriously though I think time is the only way to run an handicap as Vicky (a top handicapper) says...

    working dogs with ferrets

It does happen. Best I ever saw was a Staffie x Patterdale ratting in a cotton mill. It killed 6 rats & 2 ferrets in less than a minute. The brawl between the dogs owner & the ferrets owner was pretty impressive too.

    racing in Newcastle upon Tyne

i am also interesed in setting a club up in this area, but in the meantime if you want,i can give you the               jeff It would be nice if you could get something going in the north east. Ped racing is poorly represented north of Birmingham.  You will get plenty of help & advice from...

    Training whippetsfor racing

In this country road walking is a cornerstone of training. Some people claim to walk their dogs up to 10 miles a day, which is heavy duty walking. A lot of racers stop their dogs from playing with each other to stop them getting into bad habit's. However there are some successful owners who...

    Help

Sorry I have no other information on them. I know "Orpingtons Pride" was bred to an Aussie race dog "Bassadore Royal Occasion" to produce "Occasionally Blue Blooded". I think this dog was bred by Maddie Thompson. I seem to recollect that the "Orpington" dogs raced but I may be getting confused...

    Help

Does anybody know the breeding of "Zealmyre Mystique Lady", "Aragon Ranger of Riann", "Tayra Tamarisk", "Love on the Rocks" & "Something Special". Also does anybody know if any of the above had race names. Did "OrpingtonsPride", "Baron of Orpington" & "My Pride and Joy" ever race & have race names

A & T Miners Welfare WRC (Gin Pit)

I think it's worth mentioning that A&T are one of the few clubs that handicap on time not weight. Anyone with a hefty show bred won't automatically find their dog in a back trap.

    Show whippets and hunting

Hi Dave I live in Leigh too. Most local rabbiters travel out of the area some as far as Scotland. When rabbits do appear locally they are soon snapped up by shooters, ferreters & lurcher men. In other parts of the country they are a genuine nuisance I saw a field in Sussex literally covered in...

devon & somerset whippet racing club

It's been nice to see the way that non-ped clubs have welcomed peds during this crises. Far too many ped racers have a "sniffy" attitude to the non-ped world. Let's hope we don't forget the magnaminity of the non-ped people when things finally return to normal In this day & age when dog owners...
