I got Dylan a whippet at 8wks old. He is loverly. He is now 6mths old. He has a loverly nature and a couch potatoe. That said he is very active at other times. I let him off the the lead in a large enclosed park. As expected.... he is loves being off the lead and unbelievably fast. A pleasure...
This situation is truely shocking and I feel for you. Infact its unbelievable.
I do take exception however at refering to the 'North'. I feel the area of the country has no relevence .
I took dylan to a fenced square park. I good acre if not more. He ran the perimeter 15 times full pelt. He is almost 6mths old. I have a 30ft garden but even that is not long enough.
I say this as the OP refers to a 6ft run!!. That isnt right.
We have just started to let Dylan off the lead in a fenced off park. All sides can be seen. Interestingly, if we turn and shout bye he runs after us. If however there is another dog to play with, he will ignore us.
Dylan circles the field at spee. As we know, they dont have the stamina to...
Sorry to say , i have to agree with afore mentioned comments. A whippet is not a breed condusive to an outdoor kennel . I only have to hold dylans leg in my hand to see how incredibly thin his skin is. This breed is extremely vulnerable.
Its good you have posed the question though im thinking...
Thank you for your replys.
He is the pnly dog. Everything is quick so eating is no diff. Truth is im just not sure about what works and what to avoid. Most of the time he is ok. So unpredictable. He is car sick each time however. We are prepared for that.
The amount of foods, dry and wet...
5mth old Dylan has bouts of regurgitating his food. Not every time but its not unusual. He eats extremely quickly. We do use one of those delay bowls. Helps a bit but hasnt stopped the feeding frenzy.
I know whippets are known to have sensitive stomachs. We feed him tinned puppy food. We...
Our 5mth old Whippet is inquisitive, very excitable and happy. Can anyone help however with this when walking him. Any person approaching will be guaranteed to be jumped on by Dylan. Playing and happy, he will also likely pee on them.
When i see someone coming towards us i shorten the lead...
Dylan is a 5mth old whippet. We got him at 3mths. Last night was the first time since we got him that my husband has not slept downstairs in the living room with him. It was clear he was too distressed in the first month. My hubby then found it difficult to leave him in case he made him...
Oh my word. Thank you so much. Dylan will go in the cage but whines and barks for a while. He will settle for a little while and dozes. It doesnt last tho.
He does appear to want to close to my husband and sleeps very close to him.
In the car yesterday we put him in a carrier for safty. A...
We have had Dylan since he was 8wks old. He is gorgeous. However he is our first puppy. There are a few concerns. He has only gone out on the lead in the last 3wks. Not always successful. He can be stubborn. My husband has been sleeping downstairs with him. Both sleep well but when we try...
