Is she eating again? Was the heart murmur the cause of her not eating? Seems an unusual symptom. Perhaps she just felt generally unwell due to the hot weather?
Thanks for the feedback on the puppy pen. Bruce Fogle has written a couple of books on puppies and he is a great fan of crates and puppy pens. I think he must have shares in Kong toys too :)
Good advice from Joanne.
Also remember to not over coddle her. If she is constantly resting on your lap or touching you in any way she will become over dependent on your scent. If this has happened already the try the Adaptil and add in an old t shirt or similar that smells of your recent...
The natural yoghurt is for all kinds of poo eating. The thinking behind it is that dogs are eating poo for a reason. They don't seem to particularly enjoy it they just seem "driven" to do it. This leads to the thinking that their guts are low in bacteria and they are trying to correct it...
So sorry to hear about your poor puppy.
He is in the best place and the vets will be fighting and fighting for him. The nurses will love him so do not think that he will be sad without you.
Once he is better then do take the breeder on. This is much more common than people realise. The least...
I would make an effort to interact with him every single time he is quiet. It is so easy to give a huge sigh when they start to play with a toy or take a nap and leave them to it. This is exactly the time to interact! A quiet dog gets attention while the noisy one gets ignored (assuming all...
I, too, am a new Working Cocker owner:) Georgia is five months now. Every time I said I was getting one people immediately did a sharp intake of breath! I have worked in the dog world for many years and had many different breeds and types of dogs from puppies to elderly rescues so I am not...
From memory (!) it needs treating with Panacur wormer. It is a parasite. The Panacur wormer is given as a course over, I think, about five days but you can give it for longer. The vet should ask for several poo samples as it can be missed from just one.
It is something that is in the environment...
Did your husband do the course? Or did he spectate? If not he may not be using the right cues or rewarding at the right moment when she returns. I found out my husband was asking for a sit when my dog got back to him. This meant that the dog thought the treat was for a sit and that it did not...
I went on the Tracking course last week. It was run at the Developing Dogs facility and they used the 8 acre field there. Alyson Thome who teaches tracking is a very experienced tracer and judges all over the world. She explained that the dog must be set up to succeed and that is our...
Have only seen Supervet and The Yorkshire Vet and enjoy both.
There was another one with an Australian Vet who had a practice in, I think, Richmond Upon Thames?
So sad Joanne. She was fit and well all through nursing her husband and caring for the dogs etc. She hadn't even had the funeral when she was rushed into hospital and diagnosed as terminal. Stomach cancer that had spread :(
Esther is on trial to see how Tigan takes to her. If she is going to...
Someone came to see Baxter, the Cockapoo, but her circumstances were not right for him. She did, however, fall in love with Max, the 11 year old Labrador! He was expected to stay here, with us, due to his advancing years and his Labrador Elbow making him a little lame and so difficult to rehome...
Ditch the puppy pads and put in lots of hard work :)
Follow the advice above.
Never chastise for mistakes. It causes all sorts of behaviour problems in later life.
Has Lily had pro biotics? Her gut bio diversity could be completely out of kilter with all the problems she has had. The vet will stock them and she may need a higher than normal dose? Us humans are now being told that most of our problems are caused by lack of proper balance in our gut flora...
