I got a call today from the man at the wildlife centre. He was on his way back to the park with the heron we rescued from the ice last week. The heron is now feeding for himself so is ok to be released again. :thumbsup: Unfortunately I was on my way to work when he phoned so wasn't able to go...

I phoned today to find out how the heron was doing expecting him to be released today but unfortunately he isn't doing too well. He isn't eating very well so the release has been delayed until he's more able to cope. The river today was almost frozen the whole way across so food will be in short...

My friend has a standard poodle & has done agility with her. We always say that her dog Suki is just a greyhound in a curly coat :))

That was one of my main worries Sue, that some :rant: would come along & start throwing things at him or that a dog may try to get to him. Luckily it was a happy ending :thumbsup:

Very very clever but I think they should take up topiary or something instead. Poor dogs, and to think I'm feeling very mean because i've just chopped all the fur off my bedlingtons legs to stop him collecting snow/ice balls on them :angry:

The heron was taken back to the wildlife place & is being warmed up & fed for a couple of days, tomorrow is release day all being well so I'll go back to watch him fly off. Photos will follow :D

So after a check up the heron was given the all clear, we had to cover his eyes up cos he was getting a bit too handy with that beak of his :o Ignore the silly hat, it keeps my ears warm. And after spending almost 2 hours standing around the river bank it was the only bit of me that was warm...

I know a man who runs a wildlife rescue so phoned him but he couldn't get there for another hour at least. So I took the dogs home, phoned RSPCA but they were not able to get there for even longer. Rang the council to see if they have a wildlife person but no luck. So in the end I went back &...

We were walking the dogs this morning along the river when we spotted a heron on the water. As we got closer he didn't fly off and we realised he was totally stuck in the ice about 10 feet in from the bank :o

Awwww, the ferrets love it :wub: Ours have been having a great time. The 2 girls are rolling around & chasing one another but the softy boy Big Bungee had to have a little track dug out for him before he'd even come out :b

That's just awful, those poor poor dogs. No matter what your opinions of coursing there is no way any sane person could do such a thing, especially someone claiming to have animal welfare at heart. Truly shameful :rant:

Thanks again :D I did think of getting down to dog level but my grey & white dog would have probably thought it was great fun to knock me over whilst I was down there :clown: Thanks for the technical advice, I'll have to sit & read the handbook at the weekend & see if any of it makes sense...

Lovely pics. I'd love to help the birds but we have 6 cats so it's not fair to tempt the birds in just to get eaten :( We have started taking fat balls into the park & hanging them on the trees in there instead where it's safer :)

It looks lovely around the reservoir, we have loads here too. Rafferty also gets ice baubles on his legs, he's constantly stopping to chew at his legs to get rid of them I have to stand him in a bath of warm water to defrost him after every walk :lol:

Thats ok, she's not really a girly girly anyway, bit of a tomboy in fact. I'd better get her the khaki asbo top I think :lol:
