Thats ok if its whippet racing that your competing in
there off greyhound type?
Do you mean non-peds are off greyhound type?
Cant deny non ped whippets are faster than KC racing whippets but thats to be expected with the inclusion of other breeds, Does it improve the greyhound...
OK Albert you've got several replies to your opening post  and no acknowledgement from yourself since. So what would you define as a lurcher after reading these replies? Please
Defining a Whippet :D a breed of dog recognised by the KC as containg nothing but Whippets in its make up
Non Peds may have a pedigree known to the breeder, BUT not all their make up are whippets hence they're not pure bred just like Alberts reference to the LabxRetrievers
How observant of you Albert not noticing that your "old friend" JH was in jeans
Bluebell -I included you when praising the smart turn out of guests  now you certainly dont dress like that when attending racing and showing events, so you made the effort for the occassion...
Albert J have you ever stated that you were trying to raise the profile of lurchers at your shows? on a level with other competing breeds of dogs at your shows?
CLOTHES MAKETH THE MAN ;)
In all these years of being a "doggy fanatic" how many competitors have you seen...
So Sammy why was there only one person on the day wearing jeans? I agree everyone else had dressed for the occassion and very presentable they were too, a credit to their sport but once again lurchers being looked down upon through inappropriate dress code
A great piece of PR and advertising for your shows AJ in a truly magnificent setting  the shooters/gundog supporters in their tweeds, the terrier lads in moleskins and the ferreter in his deer stalker truly looked the part and had made the effort to raise the bar  and...
Pre ban coursing meetings were called off when the ground was frozen, likewise last winter the greyhound tracks were closed due to the tracks being frozen i.e too hard to run on  it comes down to dogs welfare in the end really
Somewhat interesting statistics in that KC link, in listing 30 causes of death the top 3 Old Age,Cardiac and Cancer add up to just over 50% of the total, I should imagine these will be top of nearly any breed not only specific to a whippet health issue problem
Very inconclusive :o littered with "still ongoing" "results differ from earlier reports" "DNA is nearer the mark" so which parts are relaive to your understanding of genetics? Please
You may reckon to understand genetics but geez you dont like answering questions they're the sentences that end with a ?
As I stated Mendll's experiments were on plants and he basically got a white flower ora purple flower  nothing else, so why do litters of pups vary so much in...
Thanks for the links seems to be conflicting beliefs depending which site you read ;) e.g. one says its most commonly found in yorkies, pugs and Llhaso apsos mainly toy breeds. I'll keep reading through them
** WW you started this poll after I said it would only take someone who wanted to register the breed with the KC
Imho the poll shows that not all non-ped breeders share your views
And by the way I have not voted in the poll
OH yes Im impressed you know about genetics :- fascinated by Meindl's theories with peas but just cant get my head round the connections between peas and dogs(or any animals for that matter)
So with the bit you do know about genetics would you like to explain
stud dog A mates brood bitch B a...
Come on now if plummer terriers are riddled with defects they would nt be capable of working would they? So the working lads who breed worker to worker are breeding from proven stock thats fit and strong enough to work not riddled with defects
