Hubby and I plus my little lurcher and whippet are off Bongoing (Translation - campervanning in a Mazda Bongo) tomorrow and aim to be in North Devon, (near Bideford ) by Monday eve. We are spending several nights there before heading to North East Dartmoor for a few nights more. Has anyone any...

Update 26th June 2008

I'm sooo proud, my little rescue lurcher has passed his KC Silver award.
I've only had him about 18 months, but he's older than that, and had obviously received no training when we took him on. He had been abandoned by travellers and was scared of pretty much everything. The rescue told us he...
The weather has been soooo beautiful here recently. There's something about the sight of daisies and buttercups that compels me to get the camera out.
P.S. My dogs do run, lots, but the action shots aren't included as they aren't as good a quality as the stills.
If ANYONE has any ideas...
The fantastic weather has inspired me to play with the camera and try to sum up my relationship with my boys. We're inseperable and they are literally my shadows so I've tried to immortalize it through photos in our favourite haunts...
The weather is stunning here in Cumbria, it's only February but we have been to the beach, without coats for the last few days!!!! (w00t) Even Captain stuck his tootsies in the water, something he usually refuses to do at the best of times.
Me and my shadows!
Just thought I'd share some piccies of today's quest to find snow in them thar hills. :p :p
We managed to find a little hail/get sleeted on, warmed up again at the pub and then DRENCHED by freezing rain on the way home. But sadly there was no real snow to be found, the boys enjoyed themselves...
It's just been me and the boys tonight so we've been practising leave it. Bless them, they've got better control over their snacking urges than me. :D
No thanks, mum.
Honestly, I'm not interested.
What about me mum? I'm interested!
I'm such a bad mummy, tee hee!. :p :p :p :p
Hi, despite owning dogs for the past 37 years I am now in the position where, due to family constraints (ie/. dogs that don't get on) I have to put my dogs in kennels rather than have them looked after by family. The kennels I've booked into were recommended by my trainer but then again they are...
I really need some advice from anyone who works their dogs as I figure that they're probably the best people to ask how to control a dog as to where and when they can chase.
My lurcher is a rescue dog who I suspect was worked in his previous life. I have been training him for the past year in...
HE'S ONLY GONE AND DONE IT! I'm sooo proud!
This time last year, I took in a thin, flighty and nervous lurcher. He was covered in scars and had never lived in a house prior to being fostered. His front teeth were missing, he was scared of the dark, wind, men, sudden movement, being picked up...
Captain is a rescue dog who I presume is some kind of whippet cross, he's 20 inches to the shoulder and is the same size but a larger frame than my other whippet. The more I see though of fawn saluki crosses on the rescue sights the more I look at Captain and wonder - at times he is so awkward...
Today was beautiful in more ways than one! Our dogs had an excellent long (mostly) offlead walk with no problems!!! Our younger dog (the whippet) isn't an issue but our lurcher will chase if the desire so takes him. QWe have to have eyes in the back of our heads to ensure the environment is...
Or potassium manganateVII if I am to be totally correct. Any way, wht concentration should I use to toughen my whippets feet as he has very soft, pink pads which crack easily. This forum reminded me of this trick, used it on my self to treat foot rot but forgotten the concentration to use...
If any of you have seen the ' Is my dog a bully whippet' thread will have seen that one of my dogs can certainly run. My new dog however seems to ballet dance rather than run. He is only 18 months old but still gambols like a puppy. It's almost as if his legs are too long to get up to any speed...
I got Captain from a rescue and was told he was a whippet possibly crossed with a greyhound. There was no certainity as he had been collected as a stray after travellers had left him and several other dogs behind. However he is very small, only 20 inches high and therefore greyhound cross seemed...
