Does anybody have any experience of junior handling?
H has always been very keen on handling and training 'her' dog, so I'm wondering if now is the time to get the pair of them along to ringcraft classes
A friend who breeds wolfhounds wants her to handle one of her dogs
How well does your dog communicate?
Brude has always been very expressive and creative where communication is concerned...
... today's gem: having failed to persuade me to feed him an hour early, just to make sure I'd understood the point he was trying to make... he presented me with H's bib...
I'm going to have to mull it over a bit, but we're watching 'the fox and the hound' which H got for Christmas. I've never seen it before!
So what are your favourite dog films and why?
I fancy a couple of beagle pictures by the photographer David Swanbury, but I still haven't managed to decide which I really like the best
We do have a watercolour of Brude done by my mother in law when she first took up the hobby... surrounded by assorted sherrat & Simpson type dogs
What dog...
Happy new year and skritches to everybody's dog :D
Brude's miffed with the fireworks and won't settle, and H was so excited by going out to see the fireworks that she now can't sleep
What's everybody toasting the new year in with? Mine's a rather nice white wine
I just had to share this :D
Some people really do go to extremes!

How do you keep your dog occupied whilst you are out, and would you buy one of these if it were available commercially?
When I visit a forum regularly, I usually make use of the 'view new posts/content' function to see what's been going on since my last visit
If it's a really busy forum, I'll probably then look at 'view my posts' to check for responses to things I've posted and make sure I haven't been asked any...
What do you have hanging on your dog lead hook?
Anybody visiting our house would be forgiven for thinking we own a full pack of hounds given the arsenal hanging by the back door!
Our current favourite dog walking apparatus is a very nice leather training lead, which can be worn across the body...
So today should consist of the last two bits of Christmas present shopping, a dog bath with Terri at Hardwick Hounds (wish us luck as Brude has only ever been bathed at home in the past, and hates nail clippers so much I now Dremmel them instead), and rounding off the day with a carol concert at...
No, I'm not being obtuse...
... Just before I got distracted from studying beagles in-depth by the surprise of motherhood, I'd stumbled across the rather mad sport of racing beagles on a course shared with whippets
Going to see this strange spectacle was on my to do list, but 3 years down the...
I'm over dressing for bed
Little H banged her head badly before bed, so I've sat up watching her sleeping. Every time I think I can log off and visit the land of nod, she fidgets her quilt off again
That's it then. Sticky footed eyore socks (so I don't slip on the laminate), the warmest jama...
Many of us like to round off a good day out with the dog/s with either a decent pint or a lovely meal, but finding places to take our furry friends isn't always easy
Which is your favourite dog pub, and what makes it special?
I'd dearly love to get out with the beagle club, and see some of this in real life. I did join the club, but managed to get pregnant before we actually got all the way down there, so I still haven't seen them in action
So, does anybody know of any scentwork of any description that goes on...
A choice of 3 different Christmas card designs
Notelets, Jotters and Post-its
A recipe book, apron, oven gloves - how appropriate!
An assortment of teatowels
Acrylic tumblers
Stuffed toy, children's book
an assortment of bags
Hat, badges, t-shirt transfer
all available from:
the Beagle...
... a thread to share the mad things our dogs get up to, which make us either smile or tear our hair out :D
This morning's beaglitis has been:
We use reuseable cotton shopping bags, which are stored in a hessian Beagle Welfare shopping bag. This morning Brude was found digging in said Beagle...
can anybody really post what they like in there?
should it really be buttoned down so insertions have to be authorised by moderators, or only authorised members can add events?
would anybody notice if (for instance) spammers targeted it?
I don't know how many members here are aware of one website which brings a number of South Yorkshire rescues under one roof so to speak
www.ineedahome.co.uk
Available dogs are updated regularly, and there is a filtering facility for searching
